“My dream is to have a team that is skilled in marketing and branding, legal, finance and accounting, plus an in-house developer,” founder Faith Wesson related to Grindstone. But the cost of hiring an internal team can be prohibitive, especially as you’re building your business. Grindstone Boost allows you to outsource key business functions to our in-house specialists, so you don’t need to. Our goal is to help you with the specific day-to-day challenges that are holding you back, so you can focus on getting your business ready for growth and investment. My husband is a business enthusiast. During a trip to #Bangalore in 2022, he noticed the city's rapid expansion and the significant amount of construction taking place. Inspired by this, he came up with the idea of using fly ash bricks and began researching the concept. Given his background in #finance, he sought a technical partner. Fortunately, he found #partners, and together the four of us started working on the idea. After completing our research and finalizing the project, we were ready to seek #investment. This was a critical moment requiring resilience and strong pitching skills. However, our efforts were hampered by differing perspectives among the four of us. So, what went wrong? It wasn’t the idea or the compatibility of the #business partners. Our setback stemmed from the absence of a solid document outlining our roles, responsibilities, and a structured solution for differing perspectives. Yes, we missed out on having a #co-founders agreement. Today, I realize how crucial it is to have a robust #contract defining the terms and conditions to help an idea flourish. Benefits of a #Co-founders Agreement: · Defined business goals and time frame · Clearly outlined roles and responsibilities · Profit sharing ratio · Compensation structure · Exit strategy for outgoing partners · Conflict resolution mechanisms · Confidentiality clauses #Co-founders, what are you waiting for??? Let's not forget to have a solid #contract that binds all. #legaladvisor #contractdrafting #cofounders #startups

Max Shapiro knows a thing or two about a thing or two. He’s founded businesses, scaled businesses, and invested in businesses. By many measures, he’s been successful several times over. And he shared with me some advice that he learned the hard way (so you don’t have to). Investors will always look to your team first. First and foremost in their minds is; “is this a team of A players?” Max’s advice? “Hire slow. If it’s not a great fit, fire fast.” Your team is everything. Don’t settle. Don’t rush. Build your A-Team. #Staffing #TeamBuilding #StartupAdvice

How do you end a contract without burning bridges? It's simpler than you think. I once advised a founder who had entered into a contract where he had given away equity but received nothing in return. His startup was struggling, and this contract was weighing him down. Although his startup's future was questionable, deep inside, he wanted to keep trying without worrying about giving away equity for nothing. We brainstormed a few options including diluting equity and different projections of his cap table, but zeroed in on a solution that didn't involve lawyers or legal threats. The key? An honest, upfront conversation. He clarified his position with the other party, expressed his dissatisfaction, and proposed a termination and settlement. The other party agreed. They signed a termination and release letter, and the founder was free to focus on his business again. The relationship remained intact. No bridges were burned. So, if you're stuck in a contract that's not working, remember this: sometimes, the simplest solution is the best one. An open conversation can save relationships and keep your business moving forward. #contracttermination #businessrelationships #uaebusiness

What I thought would make me resilient: → Having a million-dollar business → Being a thought leader → Having a massive following What actually makes me resilient: → Street dogs, who adapt to their environment in ways that would put most of us to shame. → They scavenge for food, often finding scraps that we'd deem inedible. → They find shelter in abandoned buildings, or even make do with a patch of grass. As entrepreneurs, we can learn a thing or two from these resilient creatures. We often face our own challenges, but it's how we adapt that defines us. So the next time you see a street dog, don't just see a stray animal – see a symbol of determination and strength.
