World Environment Day 2024: will you join Generation Restoration? In 2024, World Environment Day focuses on restoring land, halting desertification and building drought resilience. Up to 40 per cent of the world’s land is already degraded, while an estimated 3.2 billion people worldwide are negatively impacted by desertification, and more than three-quarters of the world’s population is expected to be affected by droughts by 2050. The message is clear, we must restore ecosystems to tackle climate change, save species from extinction and secure our future. Will you join #GenerationRestoration? Happy World Environment Day. The theme this year is land #restoration, #desertification and #drought which is a great (not in a good way) example of the nexus between the #climate and #biodiversity crisis. Let's not work in silos and let's not forget biodiversity when we're dealing with #climatechange and vice versa. IEMA https://lnkd.in/ektRTZSm

🌿 5 June - World Environment Day ✨ Few weeks ago we celebrated the World Environment Day 2024. This special day focuses on land restoration, halting desertification and building drought resilience under the slogan “Our land. Our future. We are #GenerationRestoration.” All over the world, ecosystems are threatened. From forests and drylands to farmlands and lakes, natural spaces on which humanity’s existence depends are reaching a tipping point. We cannot turn back time, but we can grow forests, revive water sources, and bring back soils. Today, on World Environment Day 2024, we join the global community in recognizing the critical importance of our planet's land, the essential building block for life on earth. This years theme, "Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilence", highlights the urgent need to rejuvenate degraded lands and build resilience against climate impacts At AmaraNZero, we are deeply committed to this cause and pledge to contribute through these key actions: -Support communities affected by extreme weather events, such as our family at Amara NZero Brasil, who recently suffered the devastating consequences of flooding in Rio Grade do Sul. -Drive the adoption of renewable energy to reduce greenhouse gasses and help mitigate climate change – a primary driver of desertification and extreme weather events -Act as responsible citizens and companies, urging governments to make further progress in the recovery and protection of our lands. Join us – Our lands represent our future, and our actions today will determine the word we leave for the #NextGen. It’s #WorldEnvironmentDay. The theme of this year’s World Environment Day is “land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience.” Humanity depends on land to support agriculture, exosystems and communities however in many parts of the globe pollution; lack of climate change action; and destruction of habitat, are turning lands to deserts. The resulting impact on food and water resources is catastrophic. The UNs Sustainable Development Goals have highlighted the need to restore ecosystems and the legal framework commits countries to do this through the Kunming-Montreal biodiversity protocol. The challenge is no longer about stopping deforestation but how it can be reversed whilst we adapt to impacts of climate change. As the UN Secretary General wrote “Every dollar invested in ecosystem restoration creates up to thirty dollars in economic benefits. We are Generation Restoration. Together, let’s build a sustainable future for land, and for humanity.”

🌍 Happy World Environment Day 2024! 🌏 Today, as we celebrate our planet’s natural beauty and bounty, let’s also acknowledge our role in its preservation - We stand together to celebrate the beauty and wonder of our shared home, Earth 🌱. As we commemorate #WorldEnvironmentDay, let's remember that every action counts. This year’s theme emphasizes land restoration, and the statistics are a call to action for us all: 🌿 Up to 40% of the world’s land is degraded, affecting half of the global population. 🌿 An estimated 12 million hectares of land are lost to degradation each year, impacting food and water supplies worldwide. 🌿 Droughts, the most serious hazard to crops and livestock, affect 55 million people annually. 🌿 The number and duration of droughts have increased by 29% since 2000. This World Environment Day, let’s renew our commitment to #Sustainability and #EcoFriendly practices. By restoring our land, we can address food insecurity, mitigate climate change, and halt biodiversity loss. Join the movement as we are #GenerationRestoration. Together, we can protect our environment for generations to come. 💚 #ProtectOurPlanet #GreenFuture #WeAreIQVIA #cFSPCarers #SMSupports
