Imagine building a technology company without asking your customers what they want or need. Decade after decade, the business fails - but still gets funding - despite not delivering for its target market. Sounds crazy, right? Billions of government dollars have been wasted on First Nations peoples' initiatives that were not designed in consultation with the people they were intended to serve. As a result, generations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have missed out on health, education, employment, and housing opportunities. By voting 'Yes' to the referendum on the Voice, you can help enshrine in our Constitution that First Nations peoples are heard on the issues that affect their communities. The Voice will ensure that government policies and programs for First Nations peoples are better targeted and make a practical difference on the ground, where it matters. This is an historic moment to walk together with First Nations peoples towards a brighter future. StartGiving strongly supports a YES vote on the Voice to Parliament. #yes23

Much of what's in this article makes absolute sense, but I am left wondering why greater use of technology to support independance, better use of data to for personalisation and prevention haven't made it into the top 8 - and barely mentioned in the main document? Surely they are missing a trick?? https://lnkd.in/dS5Zpz5T

The Future of the Affordable Connectivity Program: Blog #1 Check out our latest series of publications on the future of the ACP! Our first blog explores the impact of potential changes to the ACP eligibility criteria. Two results stand out: 1) the impact of lowering the income threshold will be unevenly distributed across states, affecting red states significantly more in terms of percentage drop in eligible households; 2) the impact will also be unevenly distributed across populations, and affect veterans and older adults significantly more than other historically disadvantaged groups. 🔊 So you met Dave the octopus last week, my friendly digital inclusion visual representation and ,now you want to know more about how we're closing the digital divide in Essex? Here's how 👌👇 Digital Essex are working with George Unsworth of Mortar to develop and deliver a digital triaging tool, enabling residents to present with a need around digital exclusion (our pillars are; lack of connectivity, lack of a device or lack of digital skills (inc. confidence and motivation)) and to be signposted to localised support. We're taking a holistic approach in closing the digital divide in Essex, tackling our 3 pillars together as they are inter-connected and have far-reaching impact including boosting the wellbeing of our residents, their financial resilience, ensuring access to education, support services (including health) and opportunities. #digitalinclusion #digitaltriage #placebased #flackthink
