Waterbom is going net zero by 2033 to become the world's most sustainable waterpark! Since launching our in-park sustainability program, Karmic Returns, in 2016, Waterbom has been focused on our commitment to our environmental goals. Now, we're thrilled to announce our ambitious goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2033 as part of our ongoing journey toward a greener future. Our CEO, Sayan Gulino, has worked closely with our sustainability consultant, Eco Mantra, to make this vision a reality. We’re taking decisive action to reduce 90% of our emissions across Scope 1, 2, and 3 through equipment upgrades for greater efficiency, sourcing eco-friendly materials, and transitioning to renewable energy sources wherever possible. For emissions we can't eliminate, we're investing in credible carbon removal credits to offset our impact. In the face of rising global temperatures and escalating climate crises, the urgency to act has never been clearer. We believe that every company has a role to play in shaping a sustainable future. Through our dedication, we aim not only to lead by example but also to inspire others to join us on this vital journey toward a low-carbon future. With the power of the collective, we can do this! Trees for the future 🌳 Sustainability is a vital part of our strategy. Our sustainability framework, Green Together, centres upon the three pillars: environment, social and governance. We focus not only on becoming CO2-neutral in scope 1 and 2 no later than 2030, but also aim to improve biodiversity and help improve life on land by afforestation. Our investment in planting the new forest close to our head office in Vejen, Denmark, is an important aspect of our ambitious sustainability strategy. As it was of prime importance for us to follow the afforestation project at close hand and play an active part, proximity was a key factor in the choice of location. Afforestation and increasing biodiversity are a long-term investment in nature. Both are beneficial to the climate and the environment as trees retain emissions, protect groundwater and help improve the living conditions of animals. We have converted 38 hectares of agricultural land into a new forest and planted 116,000 trees: 35% deciduous and 65% coniferous. The initiative takes both the climate and the environment into account, as coniferous trees have an approximately 65% greater CO2 absorption rate compared to deciduous trees, which have a substantial effect on biodiversity. The forest and its operation will be certified under the FSC global labelling system. Read more about how we work with sustainability: https://lnkd.in/ey238PDq
