"I was a victim of gun violence in 2019. Dr. Randi Smith saved my life and lifted me up. I wanted to become the hero she was to me for other victims of gun violence, said Jeffery Gates. Jeffery has transformed his pain into purpose, serving as a Violence Intervention Specialist with Grady's IVYY. Every day, Jeffery helps others navigate the aftermath of gun violence, offering support, hope, and a path to healing. His work changes lives and strengthens our community. "Sometimes people are shocked that I work here. But being my authentic self allows me to connect with patients at Grady every day. This job gives me purpose. I'm proud of what I do. 1moI love Grady so much, was Employed there for 13 in half years the best time of my life. The people I work with became my family and to this day are still family. If I can go back and turn the hands of time I would be still there But it was not God plans. Grady will always be home for me . A Grady baby I am!
