Watch as NYCHA completes the easy installation of a Gradient All-Weather 120V window heat pump. With just two people and less than 30 minutes, this quick and hassle-free setup brings efficient and eco-friendly heating and cooling to residents. #EasyInstall #HVACTechnology #NYCHA #SustainableLiving

I am a huge fan of this well thought out expedient device, but still find it scary to see it "drop". I hope they have a special retrieval lever to prevent back injury after those gas shocks are dead.

I hope that prior to installing these units they installed energy recovery ventilation systems for every single apartment because these heat pumps are not designed to handle a cold draft on a January day they're designed to handle the heating load when the windows are shut and sealed properly. The fundamentally invasive and relatively expensive challenge of implementing mechanical energy recovery ventilation in every single apartment unfortunately negates the convenience that this product is meant to promise. The Legacy Steam radiators are enormously wasteful with respect to energy, however they are designed to handle the passive ventilation systems of New York City apartment buildings and this issue is the Achilles heel of all of the heat pump electrification efforts. Regardless of the exact product selected.

While I like the idea, but they do skip over how you draft-proof the window when it is no longer fully closed. I'd do a rev 2 with holes through the bottom of the window frame and doesn't interfere with the window closing, the bottom element of the frame isn't structural and has the space for the pipes of a mini-split (which can be done in stainless steel strong enough to hold up the unit. Anyone?

This is amazing! I grew up in NYCHA and remember the unbareable hot summer days and no air conditioning. I also remember bitter winters and heating the home in some of the insafest manners to avoid freezing. This is a game changer and I am so happy that we are keeping unserved communities in mind when it comes to technology and innovation in the electrification space. This really hits me in a way that words cannot express 👏🏽

Air to air is definitely a better option for many properties! This makes is very straightforward.

Thought installing heat pumps was much more complicated ... wow, a game changer indeed.

So amazing to see this come to life, step by step. Part of the clean heating/cooling future is here!
