A big shout out to the team at Pylon for hosting a group of seed stage founders this week to chat about what's working with go-to-market in B2B seed stage companies. We spoke about in-person events and the power of engaging your ICP outside of the noisy channels of email/ads/LinkedIn. For early stage sales which is part sales, part customer discovery, the crew we had universally leveraged events as a key channel for building pipeline and market intelligence on a budget. Tactics included attending events where your ICPs are exhibitors so you can go booth to booth refining your pitch. Another startup made the investment to exhibit along side their customers, taking advantage of before and after "exhibit all hours" to get their best conversations in. Second, we workshopped some ways to navigate buying committees which were slowing down deals and brainstormed ways to get to decision makers and how to keep them engaged when they pass you down to their team who isn't that motivated to get a deal done. Finally, the founders in attendance worked on articulating value to ensure a large strategic partner wasn't low balling them.
