Australia is has a comparative advantage in having outstanding natural resources and energy. We don't translate this into low-cost power prices. This is an issue that needs to be addressed for economic growth - not more electrolysers and membranes. We already have an empty electrolyser factory in Gladstone, Queensland which is backed by one of our largest companies. Australia doesn't need to allocate $1b more public funding in this area. The government should focus on bringing down power prices and related approval processes. That would attract further investment in green hydrogen projects (and other projects like green iron, minerals, solar, etc.) Manufacturing will also follow if there's scale, and onward R&D I know everyone loves technology. Who doesn't love membranes!? It's super exciting. But let's not forget first principles. #sustainability #strategy #innovation
