Partnering with nonprofit leaders to increase supporter engagement through longer-term relationships that deliver more money, time, and leadership for their cause
Nonprofit leaders - how do you feel about the word ‘deliverables’? If you’re like me it makes your stomach churn. It is soooo tactical. Deliverables are rigid. They describe detailed tasks to be done in a certain amount of time for a specified price. This approach never works as planned. The minute you get started, you learn something new and need to make changes to the deliverables. Same goes for your #mission work. You know full well that social services aren’t predictable or standardized. They’re not deliverables; they’re solutions. Solutions are flexible, adaptable, and responsive. So, when you engage a consultant to help you with your #strategy or technology project, why settle for a list of deliverables? When you’re paying for outside expertise to guide you along a journey to achieving more don’t you want flexibility and adaptability? Don’t you want a solution? Of course you do. Are you looking for a solution that considers your goals within your capacity? If you’re looking to partner with someone who listens, challenges the status quo and presents ideas you and your team can manage, message me and we’ll set up an introductory conversation. And then check the comments for a personal story I shared about finding a solution and not a list of deliverables. (P.S. 3 years the later the solution is still working!) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi, I’m Beth. I partner with social service nonprofits whose teams are ready to look up from their day-to-day, apply their knowledge and skill, and tap into their data to develop longer-term relationships with supporters so they can make their missions happen… easier. Using my MapMoveMeasure(™) framework we tap into your expertise and use your data to create your unique supporter engagement strategy so you can raise more money, recruit & retain more volunteers, and maintain a highly energized Board. #makingmissionshappen #MapMoveMeasure #engagementstrategy #fundraising #volunteermanagement

Corporate giving helps with employee engagement and also provides lots of opportunities for people to learn new skills through volunteering, here's a quick guide on how to do corporate giving well...
I have recently had a number of conversations with clients and potential clients around how to “DO” Corporate Giving really well and what they should be thinking about. 🤓 Over the past decade, the idea that businesses have a responsibility to contribute to the betterment of society has expanded greatly. This responsibility is now a priority for companies of all sizes and industries. Many have embraced a more sustainable business strategy or are taking ESG factors into consideration and an extension of this is often, some form of engagement or support of charitable giving. 💫 This is seen as being important for customer and employee satisfaction, as well as improving employer branding and creating meaningful opportunities for team building and instilling a sense of purpose in your workforce. It’s an opportunity to stand for something, linked to your Corporate purpose — and taking action to make a real difference. I am asked, how can you help us do this well and what, as a business, should we be thinking about? Here are 8 key tips I can share to doing Corporate Giving strategically: 🌼 Link your activity to your Corporate Values and Purpose as well as making sure it is brand aligned and leverages your operational strategy/ business assets. 🌀 Make sure you have a sense of what your key stakeholders think is important too (staff, customers, suppliers, partners) 📣 Assess Community needs and also how best your organisation can make an impact using your skills and assets and pick 2-3 themes where you can have an impact 💚 The charitable activities usually would cover - - Diversity, Inclusion and Equity, - Community support (grantmaking, investing), collaboration on an innovative service, programme, or gift in kind; - and Employee giving and volunteering. (These all necessitate some sort of governance and management) 😃 Involve staff in strategy- create a group that can help manage the programme across different business areas Select some great partners and aim for longer term strategic partnerships so that you have a sustainable impact 👍 Create some KPIs around your partnership, so that you can evaluate the progress ❤️ Have space for flexibility - staff giving is lead by personal motivations often, so make sure to create space for that alongside a more strategic approach 🤔 Be open to learning - you will always find new ways to improve and maybe even collaborate with others! #corporategiving #philanthropy #CSR #givingback #volunteering

Does your company "suck?" The only way to fix a bad reputation is to do the hard things. I'd say especially in #healthcare, #healthtech and #healthit, but this is true for any industry. If you haven't fixed the underlying problem(s) then changing your company’s name won’t work. Rebranding won’t work. “Thought leadership” won’t work. Hiring a fancy consultant with a good reputation to munch on won’t work. Grand apologies don’t work. And, lol, large philanthropic donations to your detractors definitely won’t work. You need proof to change perception. If you want to turn the ship around, start by doing the good hard work to prove out your value and trustworthiness. It won’t be fast, but there are not shortcuts to repairing a spoiled #reputation. If you're trying to fix your company's reputation (or your own) take the advice on this great shirt gifted to me by Lisa B. – Shut Up and Work Harder. It's quite possible I wrote this post only so I'd have a reason to show it off. #digitalhealth #leadership #perception
