Ofwat has now opened enforcement cases against every water company in England and Wales, and the Environment Agency is conducting its largest ever criminal investigation into non-compliance. No waterways in England and Wales meet minimum EU standards for chemicals. https://lnkd.in/ebjG_uEt

The negligence of OFWAT is criminal in itself.

Solution every time EA find a case of dumping sewage when dry. 1% off Dividends and execs bonuses. If try to hide it apart from criminal investigation suspend execs perks and 2% off dividends. When shareholders and execs losing money will soon clean up there act. Money to go into EA which had been underfunded by Con party. Else threaten to bring back into public ownership which is what may happen anyway with Thames Water! Lol 52 weeks in a year means just 2 spills a week and dividends wiped out!

I hope Ofwat have enjoyed their long nap - we certainly didn't.

So just walking past the Don that is in spate as run off from the Pennines makes itself to the North Sea via the Humber Estuary. You wonder wether you could play poo sticks but didn't see HMS Warshite, RMS Gigantic or SS Steaming Sausage bobbing along. So Yorkshire Water must be ok.

Was shit in our water not the will of the people in getting rid of these ridiculous EU laws?

'Not fit for Purpose' immediately springs to mind and unconscionable. An eye-watering 14 years of wilfill neglect as CEOs pocketed millions in bonuses, should never have gone unchecked. Is this Britain 2024 or Britain 1800, before the introduction of the sanitation system?

EA and OFWAT finally doing something after 14yrs. I'm sure its nothing to do with there being a new Govt, with a new attitude, which may look to replace their ineffective heads.

Where have they been for the last 30 years and why are they acting now?

A great step however IMHO the public has continually been let down and abused. THE only concrete solution would be a fully enclosed sewage systems. More of the same old is not CHANGE!🙈 #besafe

How come? Have key players at OfWat been replaced already?
