The Victims’ Rights Request Form (VRRF) must be given by law enforcement to victims of violent offenses, violations of protection orders, or sexually oriented offenses. The form will then follow the victim throughout the criminal justice process. Once the prosecutor has contact with the victim, the victim must affirmatively OPT IN to rights. If the prosecutor receives a completed form, the form must be filed with the court. If the prosecutor receives an incomplete form or no form, then the prosecutor must provide the form to the victim and, when completed, file it with the court. Even after the case has been resolved and the defendant is sentenced, the Victims’ Rights Request Form (#VRRF) will follow the victim.
