The current consumption for your device could vary based on the function that you are performing and how much you are asking of your device. Every device/product has a set of constraints, such as the sensor reading period, and the number of sensors connected to the MCU. Today's topic of our Stack Basic series is the question whether protocol stacks can be used on any hardware? In principle, a #ProtocolStack is hardware agnostic and can be deployed on any #hardware if the framework is met. The performance of the hardware as well as specific requirements of the #stack have to be considered to ensure that the stack works properly. If, for example, the #IoT device's hardware does not have sufficient processing power or memory, this may result in not supporting all of the stack's functions. The protocol stack is the #software component that resides on a #microcontroller within a device and is typically part of the #firmware running on a microcontroller. Via a radio chip or a radio interface, the stack enables #wireless #transmission e.g., using #LPWAN technologies. Find out more about protocol stacks in our FAQ section - Stack Basics: https://lnkd.in/e-_U8JGn

Here at Golioth, we are always working to improve the security, reliability, and efficiency of IoT products, which is why we released the Golioth Simulator as part of an increasing focus on addressing the organizational challenges that come with building those products. The Simulator enables cloud engineering teams to generate data that mimics what devices deployed in the field will eventually send to Golioth, prior to the devices being ready. This eliminates bottlenecks caused by long hardware and firmware development cycles, and allows for the services that interact with device data to be developed in parallel. Quickly simulate data that your device will send to start developing APIs and UIs before your hardware or firmware is ready to go: https://glth.io/3PjqImF #IoT #tech #IoTsecurity #technews #cloud #software #hardware #firmware #data #Golioth #5G #4G #Cellular #internet #technology #Ethernet #embedded #fleet
