During my time as an intern for Ogden Clinic dermatology, I have learned a ton! It has been so cool to learn from all the doctors and medical assistants. One of my favorite things I have learned about is Mohs surgery. Mohs surgery is a procedure used to treat skin cancer. This is done by removing layers of cancerous skin in multiple stages. After it is examined under a microscope, the doctor can determine where and how deep the cancer has spread. By doing this, this allows the doctor to remove more cancer if needed, without damaging healthy skin. After all cancerous skin is removed, the patient can be stitched up and sent home.
