Regenerative agriculture increasingly plays a key role in environment preservation. Not only does it restores soil health and introduces biodiversity, it builds climate resilience into farming. Apart from these environmental impact, what excites me the most is the impact of carbon farming's socioeconomic potential for farmers. By leveraging digital tools such as remote sensing, these impacts can be tracked, monitored and quantified - eventually, modeled and forecasted. It would be very interesting to see how these quantification can be applied to the impact measurement frameworks, providing further references for impact investors to evaluate their investments. #impactinvestment I am very glad to have played a small part in this partnership between Sagri Co., Ltd and CLOVER ORGANIC PVT. Godrej Agrovet Q1 FY25 Analysis: Key takeaways!! . . Godrej Agrovet Limited reported strong profitability growth in Q1 FY25 despite a marginal decline in revenues. The company's profit before tax, excluding non-recurring items, improved by 36% to ₹169 crores compared to ₹124 crores in Q1 FY24. This growth was primarily driven by robust volumes and improved realization in the domestic Crop Protection business and margin expansion in the Animal Feed and Dairy businesses. Beyond this, there is a pressing need for educating the farmers around crop stewardship. There's nothing more damaging to the quality and shelf life, than the wrong practices carried out on farms out of ignorance. Tata Chemicals and Desai AgriFoods were pioneers in educating #farmers for banana stewardship almost 15 years ago. The fruits of those efforts are being relished by everyone in banana exports now, for the past 5 years. Similar efforts for agronomic practices, balanced nutrition, IPM, pre and post harvest activities are required especially for #horticulture #crops to establish India's name as a supplier of consistent quality in agri output space. In recent years, farmer collectives have become a vital force in India’s agricultural landscape, and Samunnati has been at the forefront of supporting all forms of Famer Collectives offering working capital and market access to help them scale as well as boost farmers' incomes. At the recently concluded Samunnati FPO conclave, the impact of Samunnati’s efforts, the role of FPOs in shaping the agri landscape was highlighted. Samunnati has extended nearly ₹1,500 crore (Over the last two years), in financial support to over 3,300 FPOs, enabling them to procure inputs, output as well as ror their day-to-day operations. The transformation of FPOs like Vilathikulam Pudur Pulses Producer Company in Tamil Nadu, which grew from a struggling group into a ₹24 crore enterprise, is a testament to this. Mr. Anilkumar SG Founder & CEO of Samunnati, during the event, remarked: "Credit flow to FPOs can increase substantially if banks enter co-lending arrangements with specialized agri-NBFCs. This could unlock ₹3,500-₹4,000 crore of working capital, transforming the FPO ecosystem." Mr. Pravesh Sharma, Director at Samunnati, added: "The FPO movement has reshaped how farmers access technology, inputs, and markets. Today, all major agri-businesses have an FPO strategy."
