Ways to help
I'm reaching out to my network because two-thirds of the tri-island state of Grenada, Carriacou, and Petit Martinique has been completely devastated by Hurricane Beryl. It's been a difficult week without power, mobile networks, and the ability to contact friends and family. As shown in the footage shared by our Prime Minister, the Honorable Dickon Mitchell, there is an immense amount of work to be done and we cannot do it alone. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Please visit the donation drive in West London today or contribute via our GoFundMe page here - https://gofund.me/2efe8fa7 We hope to ship cargo by air next week for faster delivery. If anyone at British Airways or Virgin Atlantic Virgin Atlantic Cargo can assist, please get in touch. 🙏🏾 #Grenada #Carriacou #PetitMartinique

As recovery from Tuesday’s tornadoes begins, United Way SCMI and Kalamazoo Community Foundation (KZCF) are joining in collaboration to lend our shared strengths to relief efforts. We are working alongside partners at Gryphon Place and 211 as they identify community needs and determine how best to mobilize resources. To contribute to the overall recovery effort, you can donate to one of the crisis funds that United Way and KZCF have in place for events such as these. Community Urgent Relief Fund [https://lnkd.in/d9t8-GqQ] Disaster Relief Fund [https://lnkd.in/dCzJyAzm] If you need assistance, please dial 211 for non-emergency needs or to report damage. Call 911 in the case of an immediate emergency. Additionally, if you experienced damage to your home, please fill out this damage self-reporting tool at https://arcg.is/10ab1j. This will speed up response and recovery as crews fan out to assess damage and assign workers to clear debris and begin our recovery process.

The recent impact of Hurricane Beryl has been profound, devastating communities across multiple Caribbean islands. During this challenging time, my thoughts are with all those affected by this natural disaster. It's crucial to stand in solidarity with the Caribbean region, recognizing the importance of collective support and committing to contributing to relief efforts. The priority is to assist in rebuilding lives and restoring communities. Here's how you can make a difference: - Financial Support: Consider donating to reputable organizations providing essential relief and aid. - Volunteer Opportunities: Explore ways to volunteer your skills and time to support recovery operations on the ground. - Raise Awareness: Share information about ongoing needs and encourage others to contribute to the recovery efforts. Together, we all can help accelerate recovery and demonstrate our collective resilience. Let's support the Caribbean communities as they rebuild and recover from this challenging situation. #CaribbeanStrong #HurricaneRelief #CommunitySupport #GlobalSolidarity

On August 8, 2023, a series of wildfires erupted on the Hawaiian island of Maui. Fueled by powerful winds from Hurricane Dora, the fires rapidly advanced, engulfing much of the historic town of Lahaina and other parts of Maui. Currently, the death toll stands at 53, with dozens more unaccounted for. Over 271 structures, including homes, businesses, and cultural landmarks, have been damaged or completely destroyed. Firefighters are still battling the flames but are gradually gaining control. The devastation left in the wake of the Maui wildfires is profound. The loss of life, property, and heritage is deeply saddening, and the ramifications will linger for years. If you are considering assisting fire victims, please exercise caution when choosing a charity. While platforms like GoFundMe can be beneficial, ensuring the funds reach the intended recipients is essential. A reputable charity supported by both former President Obama and one I’ve donated to myself is the Hawaii Community Foundation's Maui Strong fund. https://lnkd.in/gQUZy6Gs Charity Navigator is also a reliable tool for assessing the credibility of various charitable organizations. Alternatively, the Maui United Way and the American Red Cross are established organizations you can consider. Even if you cannot donate, sharing information might prompt someone you know to help. The path to recovery for Lahaina's residents will be long and arduous, and every contribution, regardless of size, makes a difference. Mahalo. #PLEASE SHARE
