There’s a major storm heading towards Baja California Sur. In 2014 Hurricane Odile almost completely destroyed certain areas on the Baja Calfornia Sur Peninsula The New Creation Kids Children’s Home in La Paz for example suffered extensive damage. Some buildings were completely destroyed. The airport in SJD was closed for weeks. Overall, more than 11,000 people were evacuated from their homes due to flooding. At least 135 people were injured and miraculously only a dozen were killed (as reported). Total damage from Odile amounted to MXN$16.6 billion (US$1.25 billion). Leaders2Give are now making preparations to protect the work that’s already been completed on the John Gullo Home for Children and the crew working there. Meanwhile, the most vulnerable populations are facing extreme risk and hardship. Let’s all hope, plan, and pray for the best, and prepare for the worst. Please consider making a proactive donation to any organization that can help Baja California Sur’s most vulnerable. #weareallinthistogether

With a heavy heart, I share with you the news that today marks Day 71 of The Storm After the Storm in Guerrero, Mexico. The situation is critical, and our team has just completed the first month of our emergency feeding mission. Words can't express how terrible this crisis is. It's even harder for us to save fragile lives without food, jobs, or crops because international media is not reporting on the humanitarian crisis affecting 800,000 people. We need your help to spread the word and raise awareness of this dire situation. We can't sit idly by and watch this happen. We need to make this crisis go viral, and we need your help to do it. So many people are still suffering, struggling to find their next meal. Your heart goes out to them, and you want to make a difference. Your donation of $68 can provide food to thousands of people in need. Together, we can offer a glimmer of hope to those facing such difficult circumstances. Let's show them we care. The recent impact of Hurricane Beryl has been profound, devastating communities across multiple Caribbean islands. During this challenging time, my thoughts are with all those affected by this natural disaster. It's crucial to stand in solidarity with the Caribbean region, recognizing the importance of collective support and committing to contributing to relief efforts. The priority is to assist in rebuilding lives and restoring communities. Here's how you can make a difference: - Financial Support: Consider donating to reputable organizations providing essential relief and aid. - Volunteer Opportunities: Explore ways to volunteer your skills and time to support recovery operations on the ground. - Raise Awareness: Share information about ongoing needs and encourage others to contribute to the recovery efforts. Together, we all can help accelerate recovery and demonstrate our collective resilience. Let's support the Caribbean communities as they rebuild and recover from this challenging situation. #CaribbeanStrong #HurricaneRelief #CommunitySupport #GlobalSolidarity

When a hurricane or other natural disaster hits, public and private non-profit entities often look to the Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA) for financial assistance. But obtaining and keeping FEMA Public Assistance is not simple. With so many rules, regulations, and policies applicable to funding, applicants frequently find themselves fighting to justify eligibility of costs. We surveyed our team to identify the issues they've seen most frequently arise for Public Assistance applicants over the last year. We compiled their responses into the following three tips for obtaining and keeping FEMA reimbursements: https://lnkd.in/eCXdSfBx By Michelle Zaltsberg

I help communities become disaster-resilient by creating plans and practices that match their vision of recovery.
As hurricane season approaches, the importance of preparedness cannot be overstated. Both government entities and non-profit organizations play crucial roles in safeguarding our communities. To Government Entities ➡️ Elevate your emergency preparedness by refining your strategies and ensuring resource allocation aligns with community needs. Collaboration is not optional; it is essential for success. To Non-Profit Organizations ➡️ Your engagement and education efforts are the backbone of community resilience. Strengthen your ties with governmental agencies to ensure a unified, effective response and recovery strategy. This hurricane season, the call to action is clear. Review, refine, and ready your plans. Engage with your community, lead with authority, and stand together in the face of adversity. Our preparedness today defines our resilience tomorrow. Together, we can turn the tide against uncertainty, ensuring a safer, stronger future for all. 🚨 Emergency Response in Action! 🚨 When a hurricane impacts our region, Houston Food Bank mobilizes as an emergency response organization to support our 18-county service area. Here's how it works: 🍏 Step 1: Asks Our teams work with various organizations to receive financial, food and product donations which are all needed during disaster-relief. 💚 Step 2: Volunteer Efforts Our incredible volunteers sort food, clean items, and pack boxes to make sure everything is safe and ready for distributions. 🚛 Step 3: Distribution The food is then distributed to communities close to home. 🍽️ 🙌 Step 4: Giving Finally, our partners distribute the food to our neighbors. 📦 ❤️ Finding the nearest food distribution helps them save vital resources like gas, money, and time.
