Starting November 8, 2023, Ambulance Communications Officers in the Kenora Central Ambulance Communications Centre (CACC), will adopt the Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS), to improve the deployment of paramedic resources to meet patient needs by matching resources with the clinical situation and prioritizing the most urgent calls to 9-1-1. 🚑 The MPDS optimizes paramedic resources, prioritizing the most urgent 9-1-1 calls, and ensuring the right care at the right time for people living in the region. 🚑 Currently, most CACCs in the province rely on a dispatching protocol known as Dispatch Priority Card Index (DPCI). With DPCI, low priority calls for ambulance services are often over-prioritized, depleting communities of valuable paramedic resources. 🚑 With the MPDS, ‘lights and siren’ resources are only provided for the most time-sensitive patients.

How access to immediate prof-to-prof advice avoids on-scene delays for ambulance teams and reduces conveyancing rates.

** Ambulance Department ** Question and Answer segment Question: Why does the St. Maarten Ambulance Department Dispatcher ask so many questions when I call for Emergency Medical Assistance ? Answer: The Ambulance Dispatcher uses the Emergency Dispatch Protocol. The Ambulance Dispatcher has to determine if your call is an actual emergency based on the information you, the caller, provided. That is why the St. Maarten Ambulance Department Dispatcher asks questions. The Emergency Response is quite different from stubbing your big toe on the bed frame, which can be dealt by your house doctor compared to getting into a car accident. It’s the caller’s responsibility to provide as much information as accurately as possible when asked by the St. Maarten Ambulance Department Ambulance Dispatcher to ensure a quick and timely response. Always remember this in any medical emergency situation: time is of the essence. It’s the difference between life and death.

Site Visit @ Site Clinic Buma KM-6 Today activity was collab work with medic, removing the mess in the ambulance. Ambulance readiness is superficial reflection of personal quality of medical personel. Have no idea when was the last time this ambulance was touched up. One Principle of work : No mess within perimeter of service. #TirtaMedicalCentre #TMC #QualityControl #SiteVisit

What about GPS-enabled Ambulance Service? It was around 11 pm the other night I received a call to attend to an Obstetric emergency at the hospital With the prevailing security challenges, 11 pm was not a good time to venture out in a private car You may not live to tell the story of how the journey went😡 So I asked for the hospital ambulance Kidnappers would naturally avoid an ambulance😁 The Ambulance driver was not so conversant with my address so I spent quite some time explaining the route to him. This delayed his response This wouldn’t have been necessary if the Ambulance was GPS enabled As simple as this sounds it may mean life or death for a patient It's not enough to have ambulances, ensure they are GPS-enabled to improve efficiency. The Global Positioning System(GPS) is one of the transformative changes in the field of emergency response This innovative approach has significantly enhanced the efficiency, speed, and accuracy of emergency medical services, ultimately saving lives in critical situations It borders me that sometimes those who play key roles in health-related policy-making are people who have lost touch with the realities of clinical practice Involving key players in clinical management in governance and policy-making will help to tame these “little foxes that ruin the vineyard. NAP Audit 4 finding: Critical care airways management Compared with the operating theatre settingICU was notable for failure to identify high-risk patients, higher rates of night-time events, management by unskilled trainees without a senior clinician, for failure to adhere to a structured guideline or plan of airway management and for a lack of (sometimes standard) equipment. The quality of airway management was judged to be poor during more events on ICU than in anaesthesia Sole reason for planning this course is the above mentioned facts, not my personal opinions!
