The Government of Canada is investing an additional $24.9 million in Markham District Energy to expand the world’s largest wastewater energy transfer facility. This expansion includes an 18.5 MW wastewater heat recovery system and a 500 kW biomass pellet boiler, significantly reducing natural gas consumption and cutting emissions by over 700,000 tonnes of CO2e. According to Invest in Canada | Investir au Canada's "Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) 2023 Report" the year saw record-high numbers of sustainable projects. Sustainable FDI in 2023 (including investments in clean technologies, clean energy transition, and alternative proteins) reached $26.7 billion, nearly tripling the 5-year average of $9.7 billion. Enbridge is teaming up with a consortium of First Nations to develop a wind power project in Canada’s Saskatchewan province in the first Indigenous partnership in renewables for the Canadian pipeline giant. Enbridge and @Six Nations Energy Development LP (Six Nations) plan to advance the 200-megawatt Seven Stars Energy Project. The wind power project is expected to produce enough emissions-free electricity to support the annual energy needs of more than 100,000 Saskatchewan homes. https://lnkd.in/gKZnBqur
