🌎 Cultural diversity is as essential for humankind as biodiversity is for nature. That's why today marks the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.
This observance was established in 2002, following the adoption of UNESCO’s Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity, which asserts that this should be regarded as a "common heritage of humanity."
The day aims to deepen understanding of the values of our differences and advance the four goals of the UNESCO Convention adopted in 2005:
⚖️ Supporting sustainable systems of governance for culture.
🎭 Achieving a balanced flow of cultural goods and services and increasing the mobility of artists and cultural professionals.
📊 Integrating culture into sustainable development frameworks.
📢 Promoting human rights and fundamental freedoms.
When our cultural baggage meets, dialogue, understanding, and mutual respect thrive.
Moreover, cultural diversity contributes to social cohesion, economic growth, and environmental sustainability.
As businesses around the world shift towards more responsible and sustainable practices, integrating cultural diversity into their core values is crucial, not just today, but every single day!
