We caught up with Bryan Meador of Hello Sycamore, one of our founders in residence, to chat about the impact officing out of Gitwit has had on his startup journey. Our Founders in Residence program allows founders to immerse themselves in a creative, entrepreneurial engine, providing office space, access to meetings and events, and mentorship opportunities in an otherwise isolated grinding period. Are you a founder interested in working with and around other creative people? Be on the lookout for more info on our next round of Founders in Residence recruitment!

If you're a founder at a fast-growing startup, maybe you relate to this. You *know* Linkedin content is important. You might have been posting yourself at some point. But then, more urgent tasks pile up. You start raising. You make a hiring push. You end up in more and more customer meetings. Never ends. Then, the content fades into the background. "I'll get to it after this hiring push" "I'll get to it after we close this round" If we're being honest, no you're not. A lot of times, it makes sense to bring in an internal hire OR an external agency (😉) to support content output during these sprints, so you don't lose the momentum you created when you had time to post. More in today's video from Tommy Clark 👇

Community is Power! A community is a group of people sharing a common goal. A community is about sharing the unique paths each of us takes on our journey to achieve that goal. Every startup, project, and company goes through many stages: Going from idea to execution, Is about a developer, and their investor. About visions, and about pivots, About bootstrapping, and about exits, About deploying, and about rollbacks, About hiring, and about firing, About software, and about its people. And our community came together as one, to share, learn, and grow. Because there is so much more we can do with technology. And there is nothing we can’t achieve together. Thanks to Joseph Hoffman for making this happen! Your longstanding vision of technology, years before it was understood, is a testament to what we all can achieve. Shoutout to our great panel of experts, Sholom Rubin, Max Hauer, and Nachman Lieser, for generously sharing your personal experiences! Thanks, everyone, for making this such a success. 🙏 Until next time, Let’s innovate together!

Starting a business with limited funds? Equity might be your best friend. Here’s how we built Castmagic into a $100k mrr in 9 months 👇 → Use Equity to Recruit When we started Castmagic, we had less than $1,000. No budget for salaries. So, we used equity to build our team. We recruited three co-founders, including myself. We took no salary from the company initially. Instead, we invested our time and skills for equity. This gave us skin in the game and aligned our interests perfectly. Most importantly, each of us brought something unique to the table: Justin → Expert in engineering Blaine → Expert in product, support, and community Me → Expert in growth, marketing, and positioning Finding co-founders with complementary skills is crucial. You need a team that covers all bases. For us, it meant we didn’t need anyone else to help us at the start. We could handle everything in-house. Using equity allowed us to invest our energy into the business and go all in. It also ensured that everyone was fully committed to the success of the business. We were all in it together. Working towards a common goal. For all the solopreneurs and first-time founders out there: Don’t let a lack of funds stop you.

Founder @ Social Impact Startup Imii – Raising SEIS | Reimagining Immigration for a Brighter Future | Communications Consultant For Change-Makers
I switched 3 cofounders before meeting the one I ended up appointing legally. How did I know it was finally the right person? I can say a lot of things about values, working ethics and patterns, #cofounder chemistry and other stuff that you already know. But to me, these three key points made up my mind: 📌 Proactive approach. In the two months that we have been working closely, my cofounder was never waiting to be assigned tasks – she'd pick them up herself or step in to help me. Her initiative has finally helped me progress beyond the phase I was left at after Antler. 📌 Feeling challenged. I have always been striving to surround myself with people who don't cut me too much slack. In my business partner, I needed exactly that – the power to push me, ask difficult questions and even contest me when it's best for the business. 📌 High standard of human relationship. When I was ill to the point that I had to call an ambulance, and they virtually did nothing, my cofounder was insisting to travel with me to A&E and pressure them to do something. It was late weekend night, she lives on the other end of London, and my flu was supposedly contagious. I eventually decided to just sleep through, but her willingness to be there for me at a critical moment assured me in our tandem even more. Obviously, our #startup story is only beginning, and no one would be able to tell how it's going to evolve. But for now, I've got someone to share this journey with, and it's an incredible difference to walking it alone. How did you meet your cofounders?

Super fun way to start the morning at the Everywhere Ventures #NYTechWeek pre-seed founder breakfast bringing together some of the best early stage builders in the ecosystem. Always a joy to team up with Tai Hutchinson, Richard Kerby and Scott Hartley - who are long time supporters of NYC tech. A few themes we heard from the founders: ✔ Fundraising benchmarks are a moving target and that makes runway and planning tough. ✔ Stacking Safes and cap table mess keeps on getting messier with VCs less inclined to actually price rounds. ✔ Hiring is getting slightly easier as early employees have reset expectations on comp and equity. ✔ NYC is still super expensive and the city / institutions can be doing more! #LongNYCTech
