If something sounds too good to be true (like free money in exchange for a small payment), it’s probably a scam. Scammers may try to impersonate people or companies you know and want your money fast. Here are a few tips to help you be #$marterthanScams: - Only send money to people you know and trust. - Verify and double-check all recipient information. - Be cautious if someone is promising to deliver you something at a later date. https://bit.ly/3RlOW14

What is an extortion scam? Extortion scams start with an e-mail that typically claims that the sender has compromising information, such as private photos or personal data of the recipient. The sender threatens to share it with the recipient’s friends, family or the public unless a payment is made. The goal of these e-mails is to scare the recipient into paying the demanded amount, even though there might not be any compromising information to release.

Understanding the Role of Money Mules in Financial Fraud🕵️♂️💸 The term "money mule" refers to individuals who, knowingly or unknowingly, transfer illegally obtained money on behalf of others. This practice is a critical component of financial crimes, including online scams, frauds, and other illegal activities such as human trafficking and drug trafficking. To raise awareness and prevent individuals from becoming involved in these fraudulent activities, it is essential to recognize the signs of a potential money mule scheme: - Unsolicited job offers that involve handling money. 💼 - Requests to open a bank account to receive and transfer money. 🏦 - Instructions to move funds through wire transfers, electronic payments, or courier services. 📬 It is crucial for individuals to conduct thorough research on any company offering employment and to be skeptical of any job that requires using personal bank accounts to move money. Legitimate businesses do not operate in this manner. #MoneyMule #StopMoneyMules #FinancialFraudAwareness #ProtectYourFinances #MoneyLaundering #FinancialCrime #OnlineScam Stay informed and safeguard your financial health. 🔐💡

Can I please ask that you remain vigilant against banking scams aimed at either your personal or business accounts or both. Often this will start by a text or call pertaining to be from your Bank’s fraud department. The contact is often engineered to firstly gain your trust that it is a genuine call and then to obtain your eBanking or card details. Remember your Bank will never ask for access to your device or ask you to share your login or card details and will never ask you to authorise payments that you have not made yourself. Should you receive such a contact from your “Bank” take time to think about what you are being asked to do or divulge and if this is in anyway suspicious stop the call and report this to your Account Manager or your Bank using contact details you know to be correct. We all work hard to earn what we do and the scammers work hard to remove this from us - don’t make it easy for them. Please share this.

BANK SCAM ALERT! This scam involves suspects calling you and pretending to be your bank. The suspects will tell you about suspicious activity and even text you a verification code to seem "legitimate". The suspects may even send a “bank representative” to pick up the credit card “for destruction,” then instead use your card until it is canceled. Many times the "representative" will ask to verify information or seem to have your information which appears to be accurate, but no bank or financial institution will ever send a “representative” to pick up your card and ALWAYS when in doubt, call your bank or financial institution directly. Scams while more common with consumer accounts also affects business accounts. Below are some tips to be proactive: 1. Set up alerts 2. Have separation of duties within the business 3. Minimize or eliminate check writing 4. Check with your bank or financial institution that your profile is updated (email, phone number, etc.) When there is an issue, the bank or financial institution will contact what's on file. #nevadabusinessadvisors #supportsmallbusiness #preventfraud

PSA: Sophisticated new phone UPI scam where the caller tells you they have a payment to make to your father, and he has been told to do it to your UPI ID. Then they transfer some excess amount “by mistake”, and ask you to immediately deposit it to their UPI id or their current account might get blocked. Unsuspecting folks may succumb and actually transfer them real money, when they haven’t received any money via UPI in the first place. You know it’s fake when they claim to have transferred money, but the SMS is from a private number and not the automated Bank SMS. Very sophisticated. Be careful and cautious.
