The NATO Summit in Washington kicks off tomorrow! 🗓️ This year marks 75 years of NATO. In celebration of the anniversary, here are some snapshots from Germany's accession to NATO in 1955. A lot has changed since then, but Germany's dedication to bolstering our collective defense has only grown stronger. Germany spends more than 2% of GDP on defense, will permanently deploy a German brigade to Lithuania, and is Ukraine’s second biggest military and humanitarian donor - prime examples of our unwavering commitment. At the #NATOSummit this week, we'll be looking toward the future. Specifically, the focus of the summit will be on #Ukraine and transatlantic security. NATO representatives and top experts will also discuss the response to escalating global threats to peace and democracy. #1NATO75years

📣 Today we all mark a significant milestone as Sweden officially became NATO’s newest member, upon depositing its instrument of accession to the North Atlantic Treaty with the Government of the United States in Washington DC. With this development, NATO now counts 32 countries among its members. Sweden's decision to join NATO shows its commitment to collective security and defense cooperation. This expansion strengthens indeed NATO's capabilities and resilience in addressing European and global security challenges. But we have to take action. NATO can't be the only answer, and the latest comments of the candidate to the US precidency Donald Trump showed that. Let's use this moment to act. Let's take the next natural step: a European Army! #EU #EuropeanUnion #NATO #Sweden

“Sweden in NATO, two of the three manufacturers of 5G equipment—Ericsson and Nokia—will be in the same defensive alliance.” “in the Northern Swedish city of Kiruna, the country now possesses the largest-known deposit of rare-earth metals in Europe.” “Sweden’s membership will also be a game changer for NATO in the Arctic region. When Sweden joins NATO, seven of the eight Arctic states—all except for Russia—will be part of the same Alliance.” “A sign of increased cooperation was evident earlier this year, when the air force commanders of Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway issued a joint declaration, with a shared goal to operate all Nordic fighter jets as one fleet. . . result(ing) in a joint fleet of at least 250 fighter jets.” #geopolitics #nato #defenceindustry

🌟 Congratulations! 🌟 An impressive 75% of you answered our question correctly! 🌍 NATO is More Than a Military Alliance 🌍 NATO is a political and military alliance. It promotes democratic values and enables members to consult and cooperate on defense and security issues, building trust and preventing conflicts. While striving for peace, NATO also has the capabilities to defend, deter and manage crises. By linking North America's security with Western Europe's, NATO ensures mutual defence, deters war, and fosters stability and economic growth. 🗓️ When and Where 🗓️ After World War II, Europe was divided by Cold War tensions. Eastern Europe fell under Soviet control, while Western Europe aimed to rebuild and stabilize. To counter Soviet expansion, twelve countries from both sides of the Atlantic formed NATO in 1949. 🔧 How It Works 🔧 NATO operates on a consensus basis, meaning that all decisions require the agreement of all member countries. This ensures that all voices are heard and that policies reflect the collective will of the alliance. 🌟 NATO: Born from Unity, Built for Peace 🌟 #UNVEILINGNATO #NATO2024 #75anniversary #deterrence #dialogue

While Germany is preparing for war with Russia, Estonia is preparing Ukraine’s victory plan. Bild writes, with reference to a secret document, that the Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) is preparing for a hybrid Russian attack on NATO's eastern flank in February this year. Escalation between NATO and Russia may occur as early as February this year. In a secret document, the German Ministry of Defense describes a possible "path to conflict." The document describes possible actions by Russia and the West month by month starting in February 2024 and culminating in the deployment of hundreds of thousands of NATO soldiers and the inevitable start of war in the summer of 2025. Whether NATO will restrain Russia remains an open question. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense of Estonia prepared a strategic military plan for Western partners to help Ukraine win the war in three years. The document is intended for all the countries participating in the Ramstein working group. The appeal demonstrates that the consolidated efforts of these Western countries are applied, the individual contributions from these countries to Ukraine’s victory is very small. https://lnkd.in/dZimaejC

What has happened to https://www.nato.int/ Their purpose: NATO’s essential and enduring purpose is to safeguard the freedom and security of all its members by political and military means. Collective defence is at the heart of the Alliance and creates a spirit of solidarity and cohesion among its members. With 2.1% of our GDP going to NATO why are we and not NATO leading the Israel and Ukraine debacle.

As Washington seeks to exploit cracks in Russia’s traditional sphere of influence, U.S. forces began joint military exercises with troops from Armenia, the small South Caucasus country that has been a close Russian ally for nearly 200 years. In a possible sign of the geopolitical realignment driven by Russia’s invasion in Ukraine, U.S. forces commenced on Monday 10 days of joint exercises with Armenian soldiers. About 175 Armenian soldiers will train with about 85 soldiers from U.S. Army Europe and Africa Command outside the capital of Yerevan. Since the breakup of the Soviet Union, Armenia has been an important security partner for Russia and houses one of a small handful of military bases the Kremlin maintains on foreign soil. The country has also remained a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, a security alliance of former Soviet countries, which Moscow has developed as an answer to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. But Armenia has increasingly worked to shrug off Russian influence, particularly in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Note: The CTSO has increasingly become a paper alliance, and even that is poised to fade (fast)

One significant aspect of Romania's membership in NATO and its relationship with the United States is the country's strategic importance in the #BlackSeaRegion. Romania plays a crucial role in ensuring security and stability in the area, a great geopolitical significance due to its proximity to Russia and the Middle East. Romania actively contributed to NATO's Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan, demonstrating its commitment to #globalsecurity. Additionally, joint military exercises, such as the multinational "Saber Guardian" drills, have further strengthened interoperability and cohesion among the alliance's forces. #Romania #USA #NATO #AtlanticCouncil

Today we had an event that is part of a project that is supported by NATO - YATA Estonia, YATA Lithuania and YATA Germany: a webinar on Germany's contribution to Lithuania for ATA-YATA community. During the event, Estonia, Lithuania and Germany YATA representatives shared welcoming speeches for participants, highlighting Germany as the lead nation for eFP in Lithuania, which for us, Lithuanians, is understood as a reliable partner. The most significant fact is that we can see the Allies' determination as well as ability to act by triggering an immediate Allied response to any kind of aggression. After russia‘s launched full-scale war against Ukraine, Lithuania aims to make transformative decisions on NATO’s deterrence and defence - NATO's decision to strengthen the forward defences, which includes enhancing the battlegroups and developing new generation of military plans that helps to increase the reinforcement forces among others. This webinar is part of the series that have been supported by NATO where YATA introduces eFP in the Baltics and Poland (conducted webinars with the British eFP in Estonia, the Canadians on eFP in Latvia, the US contributing to the eFP in Poland). Atlantic Treaty Association-YATA International community is grateful for partners like the Embassy of Germany in Estonia, NATO and Vilnius. And big thanks to Mr. Bernd Homuth - Lieutenant colonel (GS). 🇱🇹 🇩🇪 🇪🇪
