German American Chamber of Commerce, Inc.’s Post

The 9th German-American Business Forum organized by the German American Chambers of Commerce took place in Hannover last week. With over 260 attendees, this annual conference fostered connections and insights between the U.S. and German business communities, paving the way for German companies to enter and expand into the U.S. market.    The Forum kicked off with a warm welcome from Mark Tomkins (GACC Midwest - German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest, Inc.), Detlef Daues (IHK Hannover, Chair of Foreign Trade Committee), and Matthias Amberg (AHK USA Chairman). The opening panel, moderated by Dr. Christoph Schemionek (Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Washington, DC ), explored investment opportunities in the U.S.   Workshop sessions covered best practices for a U.S. market entry, legal and tax requirements, success strategies in logistics, manufacturing, sales & marketing, and AI.   Key takeaways included: 🌟 The U.S. offers a welcoming culture for investment, and German companies have a strong interest in the U.S. market, planning future investments 📈 In Q1, the U.S. surpassed China as Germany's most significant trading partner 🔷 "There are no problems in the USA - only challenges" 📍 Securing long-term success requires a strong local presence 🤝 Establishing partnerships and networks in the U.S. is crucial, with the AHKs serving as a great resource   Our #GACCNY panel “Legal and tax framework for entering the U.S. market”, moderated by our President & CEO Susanne Gellert, provided essential guidance for companies planning to conduct business in the United States. The workshop covered crucial topics such as business incorporation, tax implications, visa requirements, employment law and product liability. Thank you to our panelists Matthias Amberg, Partner at Rödl & Partner, Jaan Brunken, Co-founder and General Manager at Wingfield, Maximilian Conrad, Legal Advisor at Statista, and Nicolas Abé, CEO at LANCO Group GmbH, for sharing their successful strategies and insights on navigating legal challenges, emphasizing the importance of thorough preparation and strategic planning.   The day concluded with a lively happy hour, offering ample #networking opportunities.   A special thank you goes out to IHK Hannover and Deutsche Messe AG for their support in hosting and organizing the event. We also extend our gratitude to all speakers, sponsors, and attendees!   We look forward to continuing to build strong transatlantic business relationships! See you again on June 4th, 2025 in Munich!   #GACCNY #AHKUSA #DAWT #TransatlanticTrade #USExpansion #Germany #USA #LegalFramework #VisaLaw #GermanAmericanBusiness #Networking #BestPractice
