Building bridges between innovators and enterprises could be the missing link in Canada's climate tech landscape. Despite Canada's climate tech startups punching above their weight, a considerable 83% of Canadian climate tech investments are channeled overseas, according to a recent Boston Consulting Group (BCG) report. (More here: https://lnkd.in/d3zfd6fv ) Consider the potential for a global innovation database platform utilizing AI in this scenario. It could connect our promising startups with global enterprises, ensuring we retain our trailblazers and leverage their innovations on our respective home turfs. This kind of information, if easily accessible, will be vital for cross-pollination of ideas and fostering co-innovation, which is a straight shot for surviving in today's disruptive environment. AI can add another layer to this ecosystem, ensuring the perfect 'matchmaking' between startups and enterprises. It provides actionable insights to understand the needs of both, the pain points they can solve for each other, and the potential growth trajectory they could achieve together. By incorporating AI and data, we can make the future of work more inclusive and productive, and create a fertile ground for nurturing our climate tech champions. This narrative is my north star for my work at Entrapeer, and I can’t wait to share what we have been up to…stay tuned for some big announcements this fall! #FutureOfWork #ClimateTech #InnovationStrategy #Partnerships #AI

Went to this really interesting Climate Tech Investors meet in the city this week. Learned about two concepts that are picking up steam - Carbon Financing and Carbon Credits. Carbon Financing is pretty cool - it lets companies invest in projects that cut emissions or remove CO2 from the air, like renewable energy or reforestation initiatives. By funding these projects, businesses can offset their carbon footprint while also making some returns on their investment. Then there are Carbon Credits - these are permits representing 1 ton of CO2 either removed or avoided through emission reduction activities. Companies can earn these credits by doing approved emission-cutting projects themselves or by funding such projects. They can then sell extra credits to other companies looking to offset their emissions. It creates this market-based system where companies are incentivized to reduce emissions through these tradable carbon credits. The more they cut emissions, the more credits they can sell! Clever way to put a price on carbon. For all the new climate tech startups out there, you should definitely look into tapping into carbon financing and credits. It's an innovative way to fund your projects while letting other businesses offset their unavoidable emissions by supporting you. A win-win for driving investment into sustainable solutions! The momentum behind these mechanisms is only going to grow as we urgently need to tackle climate change. #climatetech #startups
