The European Flight Ticket Initiative, a joint effort of the European Commission and ESA, has awarded contracts to Arianespace, Isar Aerospace, Orbex, PLD Space and Rocket Factory Augsburg. The contracts allow the companies to compete for future task orders to launch European technology demonstration and validation missions. The potential value of the contracts was not disclosed. The contract is a step towards greater cooperation between ESA and the EU in launch as the EU seeks take a bigger role in shaping European launch policy. https://lnkd.in/eMMhH333

Summerbreak? No! 😂🎉 We've received this week (August 6th) a new 1 MEUR co-funding contract by ESA for the technology development of innovative foils for space applications, e.g. for reducing reflectivity of spacecraft (#astronomers, you should love it 😉). I am totally enthusiastic about the immediate kick-off of the project already yesterday. The innovation processes, that have now been initiated for these foils, will result in highly exciting products - the cooperation with our partners, Aerospace & Advanced Composites GmbH (AAC), Vienna, Austria, and Deutsches Zentrum für Luft-und Raumfahrt e.V. - Institute for Space Systems in Bremen, alone is a guarantee of this. Above all, however, this premiere of ESA's new GSTP sub-programme "Product Initiatice" shows how quickly and effectively the European Space Agency - ESA can identify, accept and master technical challenges (you might not believe: from submission of our idea to ESA until Contract just 6 months 👌👋). This is exactly what European space ecosystem needs, and this is exactly what innovation drivers from the ranks of SMEs need in particular. ESA can quick! Thanks for your #Ambition. This technical standard should be an interesting read. I’m not sure what « Zero Debris » means, because zero isn’t really possible with so much MMOD already present. But whatever the definition, it’s infinitely better than what NASA has done in this regard.
Time to build zero-debris satellites 🛰️ European Space Agency - ESA is committed ✅ to deliver on the promise of Zero Debris by 2030. To ensure compliant satellites can be designed and built in time, ESA is supporting 🤝🏻 industry during this technologically challenging transition. On 25 June 2024, three major 🇪🇺 European space industry players each signed a contract with ESA to develop large low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite platforms that conform to Zero Debris standards. Airbus Defence and Space, OHB and Thales Alenia Space will design and develop zero-debris platforms for large LEO satellites as a first step towards building zero-debris production lines. Congratulations - This initiative is the right step towards a more #sustainable use of satellites in #LEO. As a manufacturer of propulsion systems, #ArianeGroup recognized this need early on. As part of the #ESA initiatives #CleanSpace and #CleanSat, the ArianeGroup portfolio of #spacepropulsion equipment and system solutions was expanded to include, for example: 🛰 Shape Memory Alloy Valves, which allows the passivation of pressurized #propulsionsystems without the typical life limitation of a classical pyrovalve at the end of a satellite life 👉 https://lnkd.in/eFiTbM5s 🛰Dipraghm Propellant Tanks like the DT180, which is designed to demise during re-entry into the Earth atmosphere 👉 https://lnkd.in/encjUzJj 🛰Active #Deorbit Systems, designed for larger LEO #satellites like METOP SG We are ready to support the #development of #ZeroDebris LEO satellites! The urgent need to set a faster pace into the sector is clear, important to understand that the upper layers which are responsible for the guidance of the continent, are making sure the diversity of services increase. The #SpaceTeam always win in these situations. #ESA #inorbitservices #bringitup
Decisions taken at European Space Agency - ESA Council today set the stage for more diverse European launch services in an increasingly competitive environment 👇 https://lnkd.in/enSmPtxF

Absolutely correct. Applies to launch vehicles as well.
