FO Moritz Buerger, member of the IFALPA ATS committee, represented the global pilot community at International Civil Aviation Organization’s Airborne Surveillance Working Group (AIRB WG). This working group is part of the ICAO Surveillance Panel (SP) which oversees ground-based surveillance infrastructure such as radars or ADS-B receivers and airborne applications including transponders, airborne collision avoidance systems (ACAS) or ADS-B in functions. The AIRB WG’s main focus presently lies on the introduction of ACAS III in ICAO provisions which will allow horizontal avoidance manoeuvres for the first time, e.g. for unmanned aircraft systems or rotorcraft. #aviation #pilots

UAS platforms can travel farther, faster and with bigger payloads

Interesting read.... and some reflection for those MAAs who are trying to adopt the EMARs, particularly 21 Subparts B, D and E which relies on a a robust Certification Basis (and thus MIL-HDBK-516 or EMAC-C shortcomings). Equipped with the latest-generation warhead, TOUTATIS can neutralise light armoured vehicles, based on the ultimate human decision after their geolocation and positive identification, either by the TOUTATIS operator or using the optronic payload of an ISR drone such as the Spy'Ranger, Noctua, or Grizzly, with which it is interoperable. In France, Thales brings together the skills and components of innovative companies in the drone warfare sector to offer sovereign short and medium-range loitering munitions that can be rapidly integrated into air-land combat systems as they are natively interoperable through the Universal Uas Management System (U²MS) Spy'C.
