Chance to join a US press trip and win a €75 voucher! Do you want to be considered for potential future press trips to the US to learn about its sustainable farming practices? And potentially win a €75 voucher? The US Sustainability Alliance is partnering with the IFAJ to conduct a survey to help it understand current perceptions about US agriculture amongst agricultural journalists around the world. It will use its findings to assess how effective its planned activities have been. Those activities will include press trips to the US (like the one Cedric Porter attended last year), in-person events in Europe, as well as online seminars, etc. The USSA comprises the US produce representative bodies, like the US Soybean Export Council, US Dairy Export Council and others representing almonds, peanuts, grains, forestry, fishing, etc. Please help it to improve its communications to agricultural journalists by taking part in this brief but important survey. Share your thoughts by clicking here. Completing the survey should take no more than 10 minutes, and upon completion you can enter to win €75. You can also sign up to show your interest in being invited to future press tours. It all helps to further the reach of the IFAJ and the opportunities available to members.

📚 New UPSCALE publication Agricultural extension systems are key in supporting farmers' adoption of new practices and technologies. The UPSCALE project, funded by the European Union, aims to develop a more effective approach to agricultural extension in East Africa by using Push-Pull technology. Our partners from Lund University (Yann Clough) and KALRO FARMING ( Alice Murage) have joined forces in creating a new UPSCALE publication and they have identified four thematic areas that are in urgent need of attention: ✅ Access and inclusiveness ✅ Information and communication technologies ✅ Pluralistic extension systems ✅ Political-economic underpinnings 🔗Check out full paper o our knowledge exchange hub: https://lnkd.in/dp6XVEJv And if you are interested in learning more about the UPSCALE project, or if you would like to get involved, visit our website: https://upscale-h2020.eu/ We would be happy to answer any questions you have 🐛🌾 #agriculturalextension #pushpulltechnology #EastAfrica #UPSCALE #EU #sustainableagriculture #farmers #innovation

🌱 Exciting News! 🌍 The FOSC projects NUTRiGreen and MedAgriFood jointly produced a manual on Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK). Tackling the perpetual oversight of TEK in agricultural research and policy, the manual draws from the insights of the NUTRiGREEN and MedAgriFood Resilience projects. Despite their diverse geographical locations, they share a unified vision: integrating diverse knowledge systems into global research. The manual is designed for researchers and policymakers in agriculture, agroforestry, food security, and international development, and it sheds light on the benefits and limitations of TEK. More importantly, it offers practical guidelines for integrating TEK into contemporary research practices. 🌿 From understanding local ecosystems to promoting sustainable practices, TEK holds immense value passed down through generations in rural communities. However, its preservation is threatened by poor transmission across generations. 🚀 We believe in actively involving all stakeholders, amplifying local voices, and sharing perspectives to bridge the gap between traditional and scientific knowledge. 💡 #food2030eu #sustainablefoodsystems

Science Communication | International Collaboration | Community Outreach | Agricultural Science | Animal Nutrition
Throughout my career in the agriculture industry, I've been fortunate to witness firsthand how different parts of the world grapple with similar agricultural challenges. I've come to appreciate how shared challenges can be met with vastly different solutions due to local resources, experience, and knowledge. Having had the privilege to observe farming practices in several countries, I can attest that this global perspective has opened my eyes over and over again. It's a reminder that no single region has all the answers, but collectively, we possess a wealth of solutions waiting to be shared. One of the most inspiring aspects of international collaboration in agricultural research is the dynamic energy it generates. When top researchers from around the world come together to tackle a common problem, it quickly becomes apparent that diverse perspectives lead to more creative, innovative solutions. It's this fusion of ideas, experiences, and expertise that drives progress and benefits not only our individual regions but the entire global agriculture community. What have you seen? I'd love to hear about your experiences with international collaboration in agriculture. Let's continue to champion collaboration as a catalyst for innovation and positive change in agriculture. Together, we can cultivate a brighter, more sustainable future for farming worldwide. 🌱🌎 #AgriculturalResearch #InternationalCollaboration #GlobalInnovation

The Pennsylvania Association of #sustainableagriculture conference is coming up next month. And I will be there to do the opening keynote and a #regenerativepoultry production workshop. I will be doing the keynote both in Spanish and English. I love the winter months, we get to share stories, listen and learn from all of the other story tellers. We also get to continue to build this grassroots community that is changing the food system. Every year I go to many conferences, but the energy and desire for change has swelled exponentially in the last few years. By June this year, our teams will have collectively spread our outreach to over twice what we did in the whole of 2023. Last year was exceptional for building the regional foundation for regenerative poultry in the Midwest, this year will be critical for consolidating the national networks of farmers and business partners we have being cultivating. Rapid growth at the corporate level is not our strategy, nor are we centered on the traditional linear business development approach. We are centered on building a business ecosystem, and a national structure to support it as the foundation of consolidating production, markets, wealth creation, and the capacity to actually build a different system. And this and next year, we have the financial capacity, the land-base, the infrastructure, and the professional capacity both on-farm and scientific, to move our #regenerativepoultry R&D to the next level. Our goal is to shift the base of the whole system so we build from a completely different set of system principles. We can’t build a different system if we do it with the same tools and logic as the existing system. This has been clear to us all along, and in the last year we turned a few critical corners. This year we get to grow every area of the system simultaneously with a critical push con national community building, capital engagement, and markets. Hope to see you at PASA. I will be there with over 100 presenters and there will be more than 70 session. In the coming months, I will also be doing keynotes for multiple conferences, looking forward to visiting with many who follow our work. https://lnkd.in/gNQ2PGiJ

PhD, owner CommunitySense - for working communities; idea whisperer, process weaver, collaboration cartographer, ecosystems grower
Recently, a client working in the #agriculture & #ClimateAction domain, asked me for concrete examples of how the CommunitySensor methodology could help build collaborative common ground among agricultural projects & programs. I accepted the challenge and outlined the key collaborative issue, approach and outcomes in three previous ag cases: Case 1: The Tilburg Urban Farmers Case 2: Mapping the world: Capturing the collaboration essence of an international agricultural conference Case 3: Strengthening agricultural collaborations in Malawi https://wall.page/89kvG0 Perhaps these examples spark some inspiration to design systemic collaborative approaches that go (way) beyond the superficial "let's put some things on a map and all will be good" sessions still encountered way too often in social networking land.
