Enshittification watch: Where to begin? Joe Rogan, ever so gently, tried to convince Tucker Carlson about the validity of evolution. Tucker is not convinced, making the following highly poorly informed statements and Joe being questioning but solicitous. I guess There's a hidden agenda of establishing their props with their respective audiences, but really:
-- “Evolution is not real:” Yeah, it sorta is. Do we know everything? Nope. But c’mon man.
-- “It is only adaptation” like Tucker's dogs: New behavior is a form of evolution, often, but I'm pretty sure Tucker's dogs are not going to create a new species in his backyard.
-- "Zero Evidence:" Well, he's being intentionally obtuse here. It's true there's little fossil record until creatures developed hard parts, so yeah, no evidence from the first billion years or so.
-- It's still a "theory:" All of science is theory. Subject to change.
-- “God created people and animals: “ Yes, people have believed that for a long time. They believed lots of things. They sometimes even believe Tucker.
-- “We understand less now:” Here's the payoff for Tucker. If I can convince you that there is no truth, then you are more likely distrust your eyes and ears and to believe me.
