Attending a student job fair.
The first-ever event I attended as a student of Aalborg University was the Student Job Fair which happened in September.
This event connects reputable companies and students wishing to work as interns or occupy different positions while schooling. Quite a show it was.
So, I met companies like RIA Digital Solutions, Patiro, AWA, Norlys Energy Trading A/S, DSE Aalborg, Blue Power Partners, Deloitte, Wrist Ship Supply, Compleo Health, PARTDESIGN - mekanik og produktion and many more.
Students had the opportunity to go around visiting each company's stand and having an exchange with them.
The most striking of all the activities was the ability of every spokesperson on each stand's ability to pitch what their company does within a short period. Memories go back to my days at ActivSpaces where startups used to go for pitching competitions and training.
Key Takeaways
- Universities here understand students have to practice what they do in class and earn at the same time. I think this approach sticks more.
-They also understand students, especially the international ones like me need some money and so present them with an opportunity to easily get a job. It will be nice to also have schemes back at home that encourage this.
- If you want something, go get it (In late Prof Enoh Tanjong's voice). As we will always have it, fight your war because nobody will for you. Learn how to ask questions concerning what you want.
We visited the stands, found out about openings, applied and we are waiting😁😁

I think this is interesting data on the Class of 2023 vs 2022 - and we will continue to see with future cohorts - whether students whose formative school years were impacted by the global pandemic and how/if they continue on the trend of a strong preference for participating in-person #highereducation
Early results of NACE’s annual student survey show that the Class of 2023 prefers in-person activities, with attendance of in-person career fairs nearly doubling compared to the Class of 2022 and nearly half of graduates engaging with an in-person internship. https://ow.ly/MwhA50Pc0aI

❗❗❗Queen's Business School#postgraduate students - don't forget to register to attend this fantastic #networking event with over 100 #employers and companies! Once you have registered, make sure you look at the map, make a plan of which employers you will talk to, and follow those employers on socials to stay up-to-date with their values, news, and recruitment processes.
To make navigation easier for students, all exhibitor information and their fair stall locations will be available on the #MyFuture app in advance. You can view a digital floor plan, locate stalls of interest, and click on the companies to find out more information. What are you waiting for?
Once at the fair, remember:
⭐ Meet as many employers as possible.
⭐Keep an open mind - you are not limited to working in jobs directly related to your degree subject.
⭐ Graduate opportunities exist in a range of industries, and many are open to students of any degree.
⭐Don't be limited by 'Graduate Schemes' or Graduate programmes' - remember, some companies call it 'early career hires,' 'junior professional roles,' 'entry-level jobs,' or even 'training contracts.'
