Opportunity, they say comes once, well mine was for 6 months After six transformative months at SNEPCo, my internship has come to an end, wow! what a ride! This journey has been more than just an internship—it's been a deep dive into the oil and gas world 🌍⚡️. What began as a dive into the unknown turned into a thrilling exploration across multiple disciplines — each one leaving an indelible mark on my career journey as a student. From day one, I was immersed in various departments, each offering a unique lens into the complex ecosystem of oil and gas production: 🔧 Operations & Maintenance, 🛠 Asset Integrity, Deep Water Projects, Wells, Reservoirs & Facility Management, 📊 Petrophysics, Geology & Reservoir Engineering, 🛢 Petroleum Technology, 🏘 Real Estate and 📈 Data Analytics My involvement in all these departments underscored the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration of teams in ensuring continuity and achieving set goals. As a Chemical Engineering student, this experience bridged the gap between theory and real-world application. This internship gave me the opportunity of seating with real-time challenges and projects, making the learning experience truly enriching. 🌱 As I close this chapter, I leave with more than just knowledge — I leave with passion, excitement, and a hunger to continue exploring the endless possibilities in the oil and gas industry. 🚀💡 Shell has not only broadened my horizons but has fuelled my determination to contribute meaningfully to the future of oil and gas. A massive thank you to the incredible and exceptional professionals at SNEPCo(the list is coming soon 😁)for their guidance, mentorship, and the invaluable knowledge they've shared. This experience has solidified my passion for the oil &gas industry and opened my eyes to new opportunities across the sector. Ready for the next chapter, and excited to bring all these insights back to the classroom and beyond! 🎓 The adventure continues, but this one? It’s unforgettable. #internship #Shell #Careerdevelopment #SNEPCo #oilandgas #energy #careergrowth

On the 20th of September 2024, I concluded my 13-week internship at Allye Energy, a start-up suppling sustainable battery energy storage solutions and strategies to companies around the world. I gained experience in all business areas from strategy to investor relations, but I predominantly worked as an Engineer leading the mechanical engineering department. I aided the release of new product lines, specifically off-grid, trailer mounted units, using computational methods, and Engineering release processes using Excel. I joined Allye not only to improve my skillset as an Engineer but to learn how a company in its early-stage of development is managed to stimulate positive growth. Here are the four most valuable lessons I learnt: 1. Establishing clear and adaptable growth strategies: During my time with the team, I had the opportunity to work during the ongoing transition strategy from physical to virtual energy storage. I learnt that having a clear, adaptable roadmap that supports the company’s long-term vision not only guides day-to-day decisions but also plays a crucial role in driving employee motivation. Moreover, such strategies help to create trust and collaboration with investors by demonstrating that the business is built on solid, scalable foundations. 2. Formulating operational processes: I was involved in creating systems for procurement, part design approval, supply chain construction, and product assembly. Ensuring that these core functions, among many others, are designed from the beginning puts the business in a better position to scale smoothly, respond to market demands, and maintain high standards of product quality. 3. The importance of effective communication: In fast-paced environments like Allye, where changes and achievements happen rapidly, clear and streamlined communication between teams is essential to keep everyone focused on the end goal. Allye achieves this by maintaining a relatively flat hierarchical structure, allowing ideas from all team members to be heard and considered. 4. Building strong investor relations: Throughout my internship, I observed several organised conversations with investors. Especially at Allye, where both fixed and variable costs are relatively high, making market entry and business scalability challenging, fostering strong connections with investors early on is important. Understanding their needs, presenting a compelling vision, and maintaining transparent communication are key to securing the support needed for future growth. A huge thank you to Jonathan Carrier, Simon Hodgkinson, Alistair McNeil, Jack Levy⚡🔋, Lorenzo Bergamaschi, Ahmed E., Jacob Hopkins, Liam Chambers, Alex Kell, Guy Colborne, Max McManus, Dhruv Kawlra, Jun Tan, Krittika Upadhyaya, Manon Heuveneers, Richard Constable, Max Millett, James P. and Daniyal K. for their mentorship throughout this journey. I had a great time with the team and I’m excited to carry these insights into my future roles.
