It's a real blessing when your work is your passion AND you can reinvent how you express and achieve it over time. While professionally leading, visioning, and collaborating to make things happen at NASA for 32 years, I was also exploring the world and taking on wonderful active challenges. Now, I continue with my Adventures & Inspiration for Life Travel business. I spent much of the spring exploring Southeast Asia - Qatar, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. All of this part of the world was new to me. Last week, I returned from another great adventure to Southeast Europe - Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, and Austria. The first 3 of these countries were new to me and what a history?! Romania's Transylvania is absolutely beautiful. I think I could live in Sibiu, Romania. Part of this adventure was a cruise on the Danube - truly, it's like camp for adults! Out of curiosity, this morning, I did a tally of the countries I've been fortunate to explore. 44 amazing countries - none so far are the many island countries, but with some excellent voyages on small and medium size luxury cruise ships, I'll likely give that a go when I have a group that's interested in going to the sun soaked isles. Meanwhile, my next adventure will be a land and ocean trip of China. Next year, I'll be putting together both a land and cruise trips to Alaska, perhaps rail in Canada, and other great trips. Yesterday someone asked me what travelling means to me. Here’s how I approach it: Travelling is more than just visiting new places. It’s about meeting people and making relationships. Each journey brings me closer to different cultures and communities, helping me understand and respect them better. Travelling gives me the freedom to explore and learn. Every trip is an opportunity to discover something new about the world and myself. It's a way to relax, unwind, and take a break from the routine of everyday life. Stepping out of my comfort zone is one of the best parts of travelling. It inspires me to see, taste, and try new things. Each destination offers its own unique adventures, and I embrace them as they come. Meeting new people and sharing meaningful experiences with friends and loved ones adds to the richness of the journey. Travelling constantly challenges me. It pushes me to adapt to new surroundings and engage with different people. The adventures I encounter along the way become cherished memories.
