During the upcoming IFToMM World Congress (https://lnkd.in/e7Yigkmq) I will present a paper on efficient analysis of dynamics and NVH of electric drive units of battery electric vehicles using AVL simulation software EXCITE M. Besides that, I will give a tutorial "Simulation of Dynamics and Vibrations in Engines and Powertrains" related to internal combustion engines (https://lnkd.in/ebSupN2a), with demonstration of the capabilities of AVL simulation software EXCITE Designer and EXCITE Power Unit. Siemens Simcenter STAR-CCM 🏎 Without doubt, physical wind tunnel tests remain a viable tool for any vehicle assessment. It is crucial as the ultimate validation tool late in the development cycle and relevant for early singular prototype assessments. However, with high operating cost on the one hand and the need to assess thousand of aerodynamics variants and conditions on the other, it needs to be complemented by virtual development methods. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation is the key technology to predict and understand real-world aerodynamics behavior. Based on that engineers can explore many design variants in search for optimum solutions in the most cost-efficient manner. #cfd #cae #aerodynamics #automotive

Have you explored simulation software yet? One of my favorite classes at the Georgia Institute of Technology was Interactive CAD, where I learned how to do FEA using Siemens NX. The skills I learned in that class made what I learned in Deformable Bodies very applicable. Ever wondered how a motorcycle slices through the wind at high speeds? At TANSAM Center of Excellence powered by Siemens Digital Industries Software, we're leveraging the power of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to optimize motorcycle aerodynamics, enhancing safety and performance. This involves analyzing the pressure distribution in the motorcycles traveling at 150 kmph. We utilized Simcenter Star-CCM , a best-in-class CFD software, to simulate the airflow around a detailed model incorporating elements like: Engine Fuel tank Radiator I employed the Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) approach with the industry-standard k-epsilon (k-ε) turbulence model. This robust approach effectively captures the average flow characteristics and accounts for the turbulent fluctuations in the airflow around the motorcycles, crucial for accurately predicting aerodynamic forces.
