Call for Industry Support for the Co-development of Agricultural Accessibility Guidelines ☘ Sign for your support here: https://lnkd.in/gRG7zfvQ The Ability Agriculture Foundation is an organisation enabling awareness and opportunity for disability in agriculture. We are often faced as an organisation with limited resources with the task of helping connect many to others on the resources and information needed to identify how to adapt an agricultural business for various disabilities and impairments. For many it is starting from scratch with limited knowledge on the access to resources available for persons and families with disability or impairments in agricultural enterprises. We've identified a gap in the disability confidence and knowledge of resources from our community and industry more broadly. An accessibility guideline would create a practical resource and be apart of the solution for helping create broader inclusion in agriculture for persons with disability and or impairments. Further with the average age of a farmer now globally as 65 years, there's a significant need an opportunity in understanding how we can create accessible and inclusive agricultural enterprises from the land to the sea. According to our Ability in Agriculture independent report 2023 87% of persons currently do not believe there are transparent pathways into careers in agriculture for persons with disability (including university, TAFE, work experience and internships). 80% of persons who had made modifications in their agricultural enterprise had done so through self funding not through supported funding. Of the top 5 Australian agribusinesses in 2023 we could not identify one business which had an disability inclusion and access plan on the public register with the Australian Human Rights commission Disability Act Action Plan Register. We would like to call for the support of co-developing Agricultural Accessibility Guidelines for Australian Agriculture. Key outcomes: -support clear guidelines & resources for agricultural accessibility, from employment, agriservices, agribusiness, agricultural products or manufacturers and agricultural/aquaculture workplace environments -support individuals, agribusinesses in adapting & developing agricultural & aquaculture accessibility in Australia -align with UNCRPD Article 26 - habilitation & rehabilitation of persons with disability in agricultural communities -Australia become a leader in agricultural accessibility and help contribute to guidelines for global agricultural accessibility If you would like to express your interest or provide a statement of support as an individual or organisation in our call for support to co-develop agricultural accessibility guidelines please contact us via [email protected] or sign our petition #abilityagriculture #change #callforsupport Please feel free to share to your networks Sign for your support here: https://lnkd.in/gRG7zfvQ
