How do you maintain a work-life balance in a high-pressure leadership role? We asked a selection of individuals from our sponsorship program SOAR, which is tailored to elevate women and create strong bonds with senior leadership to accelerate growth and development, this very question. “It’s incredibly difficult and requires serious planning, management and organisation. A positive team environment which includes give and take and support for all members is also vital.” Rebecca West, Director – Planning “Being selective and saying no at times helps. Be firm with your boundaries, whatever you decide they are.” Anna Barclay, Director – Planning “It can often be challenging to juggle life’s different commitments, whatever they may be. I have found it helpful that Urbis has been flexible in a way that works for me. Since I joined Urbis 16 years ago, I’ve been full-time, 3 days a week, 4 days a week, and soon will be back to full-time.” Sarah Macklin (Walbank), Director – Planning With International Women’s Day last Friday, we are continuing the conversation with the women of Urbis and Cistri around how businesses and individuals can cultivate a work environment full of support and belonging. It is through this investment in women, that we can witness untapped potential. the best membership and business model on the planet
Happy #CoopsDay! Findings from our recently completed “What Difference Do Cooperatives Make" study demonstrate that cooperative members experience better financial well-being, heightened trust in their local communities, and enhanced social support networks — fostering social capital and resilience. Data contributes to building a better future for all by providing a platform for dialogue and creating pathways for broad-based economic opportunity, equity, ownership, leadership, resilience, and social inclusion. Read more about the transformative role localized cooperative research and data collection can play in the ICRG's op-ed featured in the #RootsofChange campaign, produced in partnership with Devex: https://lnkd.in/exS44CHJ"

Taking an inclusive, structured approach to measuring impact beyond profit matters. The room seemed largely aligned behind this idea at last week’s B Lab UK and The Trampery | Certified B Corp hosted event where Joanna Adjetey De Palma expertly facilitated an interesting panel discussion between Frieda Gormley Sarah Walker-Smith and Nick Canney. I’ve been reflecting on how Society: Global Executive Search and I can use our position as a connector in support of this work, particularly against a backdrop of pervasive leadership inequity and the insidious Misogynoir highlighted of late with the awful treatment of Diane Abbott. My key takeaways/ideas are: ➡️ The panel spoke about the importance of better collaboration betweeen #bcorps and bringing more businesses into the movement. But why should they join? Demonstrating the clear value of profit plus models are essential to turn the head of sceptics. ➡️ We need to better pool resources around more sophisticated impact measurement. Frameworks like 6 Capitals are interesting but how are they best applied in practice and shared as a adoptable model? ➡️ I’m interested in building a network of impact/ESG/research professionals working in this space so we can refer on and support this critical work. This needs to be a diverse group including the voices of Black women as without a welcoming space for all leaders in this arena the work won’t be as effective. Ideas and recommendations welcome please.

Inclusive leadership is essential for fostering a diverse and equitable work environment where everyone feels valued and empowered. To achieve this, leaders must continuously educate themselves about diversity, equity, and inclusion issues. They need to gain understanding of the concepts, terminology, and the challenges faced by underrepresented groups. This can be done through Unleashed's EDIB education programmes!
