👋 Meet Dejan Dežman, the Department Head of our Scientific Services Department. 💡 His motivation for work comes from our diverse and interesting projects: "We're essentially creating a sun on Earth, helping explore the secrets of the universe by looking at celestial bodies and events with one team, and the parts that constitute our physical reality with the other. We're bringing space missions to life and 'controlling' the quantum world. All this with a team of the brightest minds. I can't really imagine a more fascinating place to work." 📈 He appreciates teamwork and finds it a crucial part of personal and professional growth: "In my first 10 years at Cosylab, I had my share of ups and downs. I always talked to my peers and decided to push through it. It was my birthday, 8th Sept. 2021 when my brother Manish Mulchandani convinced me to come to Arizona. Almost 2 years and 9 months back, the young founder Charles Maury, and then VP, Darren Elliott offered me a job at ZEVX Inc. as a data analyst, and not a single minute passed without excitement since then. With hard work, and passion as the backbone of early success, ZEVx never stopped innovating. And, with the spirit of a true fighter, each employee took every challenge gladly and won, but the last one. I can say that my then Manager Craig Johnston, VP of Business Development, honed my skills and brought out the best in me. It doesn't matter that even all the collective effort of employees, even our CEO Don Listwin(major shoutout to him for saving us again and again) couldn't save us, what actually matters is what we were able to do for science and innovation, what actually matters is that we did something with the goal of environmental impact so big that can put all the diesel reserve on this planet to shame, what actually matters is what we were able to achieve together as a big family. To me? It's not sad at all that ZEVX Inc. is closed, but it's hard because we were so close to reaching the end of the tunnel as we could see the light at the end but the tunnel collapsed before we could reach the end. Or, maybe we were not fast enough to reach the end of the tunnel. Well, we all learned! Next time, it will be different. Next time, there won't be struggles, there won't be hardships, and it will all be a breeze before everyone notices, we'll reach the end of the tunnel. It was quite a journey, ZEVX Inc.. People often ask me why I left the Heavy Equipment world after ~30 years of passionately growing from a young US Army Diesel Mechanic to becoming President of one of the top 10 CAT Dealers in the world... Well, it's because in the twilight of my career, after often times using one of my favorite tools (technology) to make my Employees' lives better, making it easier for my Customers to do business with us, increasing Sales, decreasing Costs, maximizing ROI, ROA, ROE; a big idea I had to disrupt the traditional way of supporting heavy equipment disrupted me & my career... Check out the idea attached, Technicians on Demand, that ended my career for being a Disruptor of an industry. Ideas like that are so strong & vivid that they won't let you sleep. No use in trying to ignore them, write them down, share them, they've come to you for a reason. Embrace the gift of a great idea.
