48,000 people have seen my last post about the Senior Baker role. - 533 likes - 308 comments - 150 job applications - 300 new connection requests Out of 150 applications, we asked for 40 applicants to send their Video interviews. The reason we didn't pick the rest of the 110 candidates: You haven't met the minimum job requirements. So please read the job requirements in the future. - Many people applied with different backgrounds (HR, operations, nursing) - Not sufficient experience with Baking nor working with 4-5 star hotels Improve these things for the future: 1. Write a profile section with your style of writing. Copy/paste a general profile from Google is automatically skipped. ➡ Profile section is the first thing recruiters will read. It's your chance to stand out 2. Add pictures of dishes if you have any 3. If you worked with Pastry, mention it under the job title, don’t just say chef or chef de partie 4. Most definitely mention specific baking/cooking skills if you have any 5. Don’t waste your time applying if you don’t match the criteria for the job. You will waste your time. If you do think that you're good for the position, rather send a video introduction and mention why you think you'd be a good fit. I'll come back shortly to all the applications. Thank you for choosing us!

Curious if this is common or not. While yes my job title/position etc. has changed, what I do & which skills/traits I use these days are more or less the same as when I was 16-21 working various jobs: - student: researching, writing, summarizing info and making sense of various complicated items; - waiter/cook: serving people figuratively at work & literally at home; - customer service rep: responding to questions/inquiries, solving issues; - teacher's assistant: research, presenting, assisting... I could go on. Do most of you feel that you did in fact take skills, interests, passions, comparative advantages etc. and weave them into a living?

Dear Job Applicants, When applying for a position with any company, it's important to include a brief introductory paragraph in your email. Mention your current position, the role you are applying for, and a few sentences about yourself. Simply sending an attachment of your CV with the subject line "Job Application" and leaving the email body empty is not sufficient. Regardless of whether you are applying for a Non-Executive, Executive, or even a waiter position at a restaurant, the effort you put into your email can make a significant impact. A well-crafted email reflects positively on you and shows your seriousness about the opportunity. Therefore, make a strong first impression with a thoughtful and complete job application email because it does matter. #advice #jobapplicationemail #becauseitdoesmatter

Are you a pastry student? Then let me make some recommendations: Get to know your professors outside of the classroom. It doesn't have to be huge, just greeting them on campus. Start learning about how hiring is done. A lot of it is done through corporate career pages. For example, Marriott has a corporate career page, so check that often to see what positions are available. Maybe they aren't right for you now, but you can see what might be interesting to you as you gain experience. Check CulinaryAgents.com This is a great job board. Again, might not be right for you now, but at least you know what is out there. Last, get a resume together. CareerOneStop.org is totally FREE. You don't have to pay a resume writer to get a good resume together. #pastrystudent, #JohnsonandWales, #jobs, #pastry

👩🍳🔍 Chefs here are some Tips to Enhance & Elevate Your CV As someone who has reviewed countless CVs over the last 20 years, I'm continually surprised by the lack of care and attention to detail from many chefs. I understand that chefs aren't tethered to a computer like I am, but a well-crafted CV can truly set you apart and unlock new career opportunities. Here are some key additions that can elevate your CV: 💻 Include websites of past & present establishments to showcase your culinary journey. 🏆 Highlight any accolades your kitchen has received for exceptional performance. 👩🍳 Specify the name of the Executive or Head Chef you've worked under to provide context. 🍳 Detail the specific sections of the kitchen you've contributed to, demonstrating your versatility. 👥 Mention the size of the kitchen team you've led or worked with, showcasing your leadership skills. 🍽️ Specify the number of covers you're accustomed to producing daily, indicating your capacity and experience. 🌮 Describe the type of cuisine you specialize in, allowing potential employers to gauge your fit. ✨ By incorporating these details into your CV, you can present a comprehensive picture of your culinary expertise and experience. If you need any additional help then please do drop me a post. #ChefLife #CulinaryExcellence #CareerTips #CVAdvice #HospitalityIndustry #ChefCV #StandOut #CareerDevelopment
