We're thrilled to announce an inspiring shift within our team: Nick, previously mastering the craft of a mechanic, is now embarking on a new adventure as an Altom Tanker Driver. This transition is not just a change in role; it's a testament to growth, adaptability, and our collective drive to make a meaningful impact. Every mile driven by our tanker drivers is a mile towards sustainability, efficiency, and making a difference in the communities we serve. Let's embrace this moment to rally around Nick and reaffirm our commitment to excellence and support. Together, we're not just moving goods; we're moving lives, shaping futures, and fueling the journey towards a brighter tomorrow. #CareerGrowth #TransportationHeroes #DrivingForward #FuelingTheFuture #TeamAltom #LogisticsInnovation #ProfessionalGrowth #RoadToSuccess #EmpowermentOnWheels #MakeADifference

Head of HSE, Sustainability, Facility Management and Machine Safety at System Logistics (Krones Group)
SAFETY IN MOVIES – MOVIES FOR SAFETY # 24 – SULLY, 2016 “𝘠𝘰𝘶’𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘥 𝘯𝘰 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘳 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯-𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝘐𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘴𝘪𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴, 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘱𝘪𝘵” After a couple of niche films, let’s go back to a more well-known and celebrated movie, directed by a renowned and experienced director like Clint Eastwood. Like Matewan (see episode # 23) and several others, this is another film based on a true (and very well-known) story, that of “The Miracle on the Hudson”. On January 15, 2009, US Airways Flight 1549 had a failure to both engines shortly after taking off NY’s LaGuardia airport and was forced to make an emergency water landing on Hudson River along the Manhattan shoreline. The extraordinary thing of the story was not only the fact that, against all odds, all 155 people on board (crew and passengers) survived, but also the ability of pilot Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, who relied more on his own experience and instinct than on procedures ("𝘪𝘧 𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘮𝘯 𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘦𝘴, 𝘸𝘦’𝘥 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘥!") to face a situation that had never been simulated or foreseen before. Despite the numerous dialogues and action scenes stripped down to the essential, “Sully” was able to keep me engaged through several flashbacks; it provided many insights into the importance of human factors, the search for responsibility and human error as well as “hindsight bias” and aviation safety. All insights that can be effectively used during safety training courses. The scenes in which Sully and his first officer, Jeff Skiles, acclaimed by the public, are challenged and questioned by the NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) commission, are particularly thought-provoking. Other aspects I found of particular interest in this movie: - The importance of rigorous training and the ability to stay calm under heavy pressure - The impact of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder on people - The need for challenging procedures that are inevitably based on events that have been foreseen - The importance of preparation, decision making and teamwork in emergency situations https://lnkd.in/esNmMzzy #safetytraining #safetyinmovies #aviationsafety #safetyculture #humanfactors #ptsdawareness
