Stopping and smelling the roses is nice, but Janice wants to share that joy with others in her community, so she takes it a step further! As part of our award-winning Spark program, she loves to assemble these beautiful displays to bring a smile to other residents and team members at the Auberge at Bee Cave in Texas. Thank you, Janice, for making the community a better place! Cities Connecting Children to Nature (CCCN) is a joint initiative of the National League of Cities and the Children & Nature Network, working to connect children and families to green spaces and outdoor experiences across the country. A recent report is identifying takeaways from the initiative that can inform future systems work within cities to promote nature access – including the importance of developing or strengthening partnerships with community and government partners to make systems-level change. “This work has truly opened the doors to how we can function, who is helping advance these efforts, and how we can prioritize multilevel systems thinking,” reports the city of Little Rock, Arkansas, a CCCN participant. Ecological Research and Design | Gen Z Climate and Wildlife Activist | Writer and Poet | Coordinator of YES! At The Philosophy Family Farm—storytelling and inclusive environmental action
YES! is starting with its first activity this week: Post a picture demonstrating how your work/studies have a positive impacton community. Feel free to explain it: what is your community that you serve/inhabit? What is the most rewarding thing about helping community? What is something that you think communities would benefit from your work, that is different or unconventional? For me personally, my local community is in Upstate New York, and as there are many people who have moved here to appreciate the natural beauty of the area, as well as locals who have lived here for generations, everyone has some story to tell from their perspective of the area’s natural history. One thing that is rewarding about serving it is seeing people and families come together and have fun in a local setting, and seeing that they can do fun and rewarding things for the environment right where they are. And, I truly believe that my community could really start to benefit from their creative projects being celebrated as a new way of collaborating in a local setting, to set an example for other communities. In order to create change, we need to embrace our unique skills and the qualities that make us outstanding. The environment is filled with communities, and we are one of them, contributing to it with our output. If our output is positive and fulfilling for everyone, just imagine how the Earth community can become even stronger than before! #community #earth #earthcommunity #communityaction #communityclimate

Startling statistics reveal that an astonishing 70% of families grapple with the daunting task of selecting an #assistedliving facility. 📊 This overwhelming number underscores the complexity of the decision-making process and the magnitude of emotions tied to it. Trust forms the bedrock of this quest – a trust that transcends the unknown and ensures our seniors experience comfort, safety, and compassion in their new living environment. In a landscape where doubt and confusion often reign, it's vital to foster open discussions around this topic. Let's come together to share experiences, insights, and collective wisdom. By amplifying our voices and creating a community built on empathy, we can empower one another to make informed decisions that truly reflect our commitment to the well-being of our cherished elders.

I love the simplicity beauty of this new community weaving framework by Fabian Pfortmüller and some other experts in the space. The framework is applicable to any meaningful community or movement you can imagine. If you get all five elements right, you're well on track. Check it out!
How do we weave healthy communities? This is the question that Erin Dixon, Michel Bachmann, Sita Magnuson and myself have been asking for the past 5 years. And we are sooooo proud to share with you all today some of our reflections in the form of the Community Weaving Framework. We invite you to explore 5 elements to weave healthy communities: the Fire, the Web, the Rhythm, the Circles and the Spiral. www.community-weaving.org This project wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support from so many of you. A huge thank you to Linh Trinh, Alfredo Carlo and the whole Housatonic team for developing the beautiful design and being the most supportive and patient companions. A thank you to all the people who were part of our project team at different stages, especially Sascha Mombartz and Lana Kristine Jelenjev. And a sincere thank you to all our contributors who guided us with so much patience and care throughout the years. How does it resonate with you?
