We're still buzzing with the incredible energy from last week's "Kicking Balls' ' screening in New York City, co-hosted by Sikhya Entertainment, Viniyard Films, Frontier Innovations Foundation, #SheLeadsImpactFund, Equality Now, House of Culture, and Product of Culture. A passionate audience joined us for a truly impactful evening, witnessing the power of storytelling in the fight against child marriage. The night unfolded with the deeply moving documentary, "Kicking Balls” directed by #VijayetaKumar. We watched, hearts pounding, as young girls in Rajasthan defied the constraints of child marriage, finding hope and freedom through football. Academy Award winner Guneet Monga Kapoor and Ajaita S. offered their invaluable insights into the film's vision and its potential to spark real change. But the magic didn't stop there! We shared the incredible experience of our first "Hatke Village" screening in Gajraula, Uttar Pradesh where over 150 rural women and village community came together to watch the film, their voices sparking powerful dialogue and igniting a sense of empowerment. This wasn't just about raising awareness – it was about channeling that awareness into action. The evening buzzed with discussions on amplifying rural women's voices and advocating for policy changes to end child marriage and promote gender equality. "Kicking Balls" is more than a film, it's a movement. The "#1MillionVoicestoAction" campaign continues its powerful journey, aiming to reach 1 million women in rural India with this documentary that resonates with their experiences. 40,000 Frontier Markets' Sahelis are taking this campaign to the heart of the fight against child marriage. Across 10,000 Indian villages, these empowered women will spearhead on-ground surveys, ensuring our message reaches the most remote communities and households grappling with this issue. This is "#MillionVoicestoAction" in its truest form. Thank you to everyone who joined us in New York City! Together, we created a ripple effect of positive change, and the fight for women's empowerment continues. Stay tuned for upcoming opportunities to get involved in this movement that's changing lives, one village at a time! #KickingBalls #EndChildMarriage #GirlPower #SheLeadsImpactFund #SikhyaEntertainment #ViniyardFilm #1MillionVoicesToAction

A friend who read Splash! recently asked me Why I cared so much about the work PANI does In villages across Uttar Pradesh. After all, There is no dearth of nonprofits working In the space of women's empowerment in India, Is there? I thought about it long and hard. And I realised, The reason I care is because of my lived experiences as a woman. I am irrevocably bound To the young women in Splash!, The ten thousand girls whom they represent, And to most women and girls in India, Maybe across the world, By virtue of my experiences as a woman. These experiences are rooted in Nuanced fear, shame & denial of my womanhood; Be it of my body, my demeanour, my looks, My voice, my dreams, my identity, My very belonging in familial and social spaces. There are two central themes that underpin The numbers & statistics of PANI’s programs For the empowerment of young women & girls; Freedom and Compassion. On the face of it, each story in Splash is about A young woman breaking free from traditional controls To make her own path in the world. But, look beneath my words, And hopefully, You will see a parallel journey of evolution; Of a young woman breaking free from fear & shame, To see herself with new eyes, As she learns to increasingly love & respect herself, And compassionately claim her identity, rights & dreams. Freedom. Compassion. Self Love. This is why I care. It is why you should care too. #Splash #womenempowerment #gender #compassion #storytelling

A Teen Queen Namaste from Maithri Aquatech, India 🙏 Each time we share the success stories of women and girls, a huge gratitude to the Almighty follows. Women Power has been empowering/enabling us to sustain ourselves and the planet since times immemorial. Without this power, the world cannot exist. Period. As many a times before, thanks to The Times Of India, I am pleased to share the success story of Suhana Saini from Rohtak, Haryana- the Numero Uno of under-19 doubles Table Tennis- who achieved this feat in partnership with Bengaluru's Yashasvi Ghorpade, an awesome duo! Her achievement motivation is amazing and inspirational. What stands out is Suhana's free spirit and ability to recover from bleak & tough situations. Young children (5/6 year olds) are joining TT academies in Haryana inspired by Super Suhana!! Women are trying to make the world a better place to live and save the planet from the cusp of extinction with both success and failure. However, a closer look at the reasons of failure clearly establishes our inability to embrace and practice DEI. #sdg5 targets status report 2023 by United Nations says: 1. With less than 7 years remaining, a mere 15.4 per cent of Goal 5 indicators with data are “on track”, 61.5 per cent are at a moderate distance and 23.1 per cent are far or very far off track from 2030 targets. 2. In many areas, progress has been too slow. At the current rate, it will take an estimated 300 years to end child marriage, 286 years to close gaps in legal protection and remove discriminatory laws, 140 years for women to be represented equally in positions of power and leadership in the workplace, and 47 years to achieve equal representation in national parliaments. 3. Political leadership, investments and comprehensive policy reforms are needed to dismantle systemic barriers to achieving Goal 5. Gender equality is a cross-cutting objective and must be a key focus of national policies, budgets and institutions. 4. Around 2.4 billion women of working age are not afforded equal economic opportunity. Nearly 2.4 Billion Women Globally Don’t Have Same Economic Rights as Men. 178 countries maintain legal barriers that prevent women’s full economic participation. 5. In 2019, one in five women, aged 20-24 years, were married before the age of 18. 6. Approximately 137 women are killed by a member of their family everyday. Less than 40 percent of women who experience violence seek help from an institution of any sort. Less than 10 percent of those sought help from police. 7. At least 200 million women and girls, aged 15-49 years have undergone female genital mutilation in 31 countries where the practice is concentrated. This means we need to act harder and faster to achieve the mission critical Women Empowerment & Gender Equality. #IDRMostRead | As part of its WLR programme, The Womanity Foundation has been closely working with and funding a number of community-based organisations across rural India that engage with land rights for women. Although many community-based organisations are involved with issues related to the intersection of women and land, funding for such programmes remains scarce. Funds for these interventions are typically drawn from budgets allotted to a larger programme that is not specifically geared towards women’s land rights (WLR). Our commitment to this cause has helped us realise that there needs to be a more robust funding ecosystem for WLR in India. Read this article by Linzi Sarkar and Shivani Gupta to understand how despite its potential as a sustainable empowerment solution, funding for women's land rights remains scarce and how funders can integrate it into their work. (This article is supported by The Womanity Foundation.) https://lnkd.in/dw74C3Zw . . . . . . . This week we are showcasing some of the #MostRead articles from the last quarter. Here is article 5 of 10.

Single women, which include widows, separated, divorced, deserted, and unmarried women, face pervasive biases and discrimination across various spheres of life. Despite some localised efforts, the majority of single women across the country still remain unrecognised and invisible. Their intersecting vulnerabilities demand targeted welfare responses to reverse exclusions and discrimination that lead to harmful practices against single women. The desired end of social reform in India, which emerged with concern for widows, would be if every woman would feel empowered enough to know that though they are single, they are not alone! Women are placed & treated better than Men..... Though, Men & Women are complementary to one another, nevertheless such notions of disparity keep floating in the air. Why do we compare Men & Women? They are interwoven, inseparable, two sides of the same coin, interdependent, sources of next generation means they are creators. A feeling of distinction is merely selective. Gradually, We are progressing towards empowering Women, and a drastic changes are visible. The very basic reason of any disparity is lack of quality education embedded with so-called traditional practices in our erstwhile Society. Let's refresh & restart our campaign towards women empowerment. Where there is a woman, there is Peace, affection, Love, creation, Pity, submission, gratitude, sacrifices & transformation.

Want to understand Women in Holi Here are 4 things 💚💛❤1.Like colours of Holi, Women also have different colors, 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐨𝐧- who changes behaviour as per nature of work.We learn to be flexible in life, because that's what society demands. 💚💛❤2. In Holi, we may play with strangers but want to maintain our distance. So Women, saying hi, hello or little talk don't mean that we are friends (Girls or boys) with you.𝗜𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗱. 💚💛❤3.During Holi, the touch of the Holi color, will help us judge, is it a good quality color. So, women, 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲.The judging criteria vary for every woman based on the circumstances, experiences, people, book, movies they have watched. 💚💛❤4. In Holi, we forget about gender and we play Holi with equality whoever is there in the field. In, real life, 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲. The fight has only begun because many women being a housewife did not have many rights for many years. They felt tortured. ✅They did not feel they were part of taking decisions. ✅They did not feel confident ✅They did not feel respected In current world, many ✅Fathers are happy when a girl child is born. ✅Husband is supporting in household work when a wife is working. ✅Fathers teachers their Girl child also to have dreams and work on their dreams. ✅Men are proud for women being independent and taking decision independently. Women on the other hand ✅Have started taking ownership of work along with the household ✅Not making excuses at work or any household activity because of being women. ✅Have started taking independent decision and having a control on their finances. We are still learning and with evolving world, where men are supporting women and women taking ownership of life, I am hoping we shall further evolve. Thank you to each Men who are there with us. Question - What do you think where we need progress further ?? Happy Holi !! Only Love Dimpy Udhani #holi #dimpyudhani #polograd

This #InternationalWomensDay, women Panchayat leaders across Bihar and Uttar Pradesh led the way for #genderequality! These women leaders came together to not only to celebrate the achievements of women across various fields but also mobilize other women in the communities to claim public spaces, become economically empowered, and lead change from the front! Rallies led by these women leaders spread awareness on key gender-based issues like the importance of girls’ education and curbing child marriage, and promoted women’s agency to combat gender-based discrimination. At the same time, through workshops and training sessions, C3 built the capacity of these women leaders to identify vulnerable and marginalized groups within their communities, and to address their needs. Equipped with knowledge and skills to address pressing issues affecting women and girls in their communities, they are driving meaningful change. For more than 15 years, C3 has been strengthening gender-responsive grassroots governance by equipping women leaders from Panchayati Raj Institutions to shape empowered, gender-equal communities. Today, these women are not only accelerating #progress and bridging the #genderdivide, but also amplifying women’s voices in the public sphere and becoming role models for women in their communities. They are an inspiration for us all! #womensday #investinwomen #womenleaders #communityaction #agency #empowerment #accelerateprogress #inspireinclusion
