Huge announcement from Universal just a few minutes ago. It’s a first full overview of UNIVERSAL EPIC UNIVERSE theme park. There’s going to be lots of discussion around this new theme park for years to come. My first impressions? 1. The name isn’t knocking my socks-off. I’m getting ‘High School Musical the musical the series’ vibes. I guess the common vernacular will just call it ‘Epic Universe’? 2. The overall thematic concept feels a little meh. This idea of generic fantasy/utopia. The ‘Chronos’ entrance and names like Celestial Park, Constellation Carousel, Astronomical, Starfall Racers, & Helios Hotel don’t particularly excite me. But portals that lead to other destinations is totally fine. Portals get used a LOT (we used the idea ourselves for Katmandu Park). So, is it new? No. Does it work? Yeah sure. 3. Nintendo World will be a HUGE hit. 4. Universal Monsters will not be their most popular attraction. I can see that one getting replaced by one more multiple horror franchises sooner rather than later (Five Nights at Freddy’s?) 5. How to Train your Dragon will be very succcesful. 6. Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Ministry of Magic cannot be underestimated, despite the zeitgeist of the original films and books aging more and more every day. But, I can’t see it being as big as the original attractions. Let’s discuss! #themedentertainment #themeparks https://lnkd.in/eW-YMVpq

Creating experiences that players enjoy is a hard when developing any game, and thorough user research is critical to finding the fun, reducing player friction and so much more. When conducting UR observing player behavior within the game itself is essential, but is uniquely challenging in VR and AR. Last summer Dark Arts Software ran user research on our very first prototype, and used Cognitive3D to collect analytics and capture player behavior data, and the results were fantastic. Their tools allowed us to fly around in full 3D replays in browser, allowing us to watch how our participants danced and played the game so we could learn what worked and what didn't, and we could also see our scripted analytics events in 3D. Oh and did I mention the 3D replays captured nearly the full game environment, and were played back entirely *outside of the engine*? Our latest prototype is 100x better because of the work Tony and his team are doing to enable some of the best analytics tools for VR.
Just tried the new dance prototype from Patrick A. and the Dark Arts Software today, and it was 🔥 Any experience I can try where I feel like a) I learned something, b) I saw something new, is a valuable experience, congrats Patrick and wishing you luck on your journey. 💃

I still remember the first time I played Half-Life. It was in 1998, and I was in school at that time. I had heard a lot of buzz about this new game from Valve, a company that I had never heard of before. I was curious and excited to try it out. I borrowed a CD-disk from my friend, and installed it on my PC. I launched the game, and still remember how I was greeted by a voice saying “Welcome to the Black Mesa Research Facility”. I was hooked by this new approach to the game scenario. Half-Life was unlike any game I had ever played before. It was not just a shooter, it was a real story. A story that I was a part of. I felt like I was Gordon Freeman, a scientist who had to survive a disaster that unleashed aliens and soldiers on a secret underground complex. I was amazed by the game’s realism and immersion, the way it used scripted sequences and environmental cues to tell the story, without breaking the flow of the game. I was thrilled by the game’s action and suspense, the way it challenged me with smart and varied enemies, and rewarded me with satisfying weapons and tools. I was captivated by the game’s atmosphere and mood, the way it used sound and music to create tension and emotion. Half-Life was a game that inspired me to learn more about science, technology, and gaming as well. It also introduced me to a community of fans and modders, who created remarkable content and experiences based on the game. It made me a loyal follower of Valve and its products, who continued to surprise and delight me with their sequels and spin-offs. It gave me countless hours of fun and joy, and many unforgettable memories at that time. Half-Life is a game that I will always cherish and revisit. It is a game that shaped my childhood, and influenced my adulthood. It is a game that changed the FPS genre forever, and definitely set a new standard for video games. It is a game that deserves to be celebrated, especially on its 25th anniversary. Check out the documentary about the 25th anniversary of the release of Half-Life, a groundbreaking video game by Valve. It features interviews with the original development team, who share their memories of creating Valve’s first game and other topics related to this commercial success for the company, which shaped the whole gaming industry leap ahead.

Do you have a vague set of ideas, or a firm plan, or a firm AND fully-supported plan to get you to the next place you’re looking to be? So many people have lost their way a little over the past few years - that’s fully understandable. What a shame it would be if this fuzzier way of living were to become your new normal. What can you do to get on track and stay on track? I’m a huge fan of watching free self-development videos and having daily lists, but these can’t do all the heavy lifting, you need to commit to something transformative. You know what to do. You’ve got this! Jmx #supportedgoals #jmx #vision #followthrough #goals

My mission: add value to those around me so they can maximize their own potential and inspire them to be their own best!
Takaful question of the day: ever watch superhero shows such as flash, marvel universe, superman… there is always a car being smashed over the head of the hero or they are fighting and crash through a house. If you had Takaful would you have coverage for this? It isn’t an official war or act of God. If it does then how would we price Takaful products once the first superhero shows up? Higher contributions if you live in a city with a superhero? If there isn’t coverage if a superhero destroys your property how can we design such products? Which product contribution rates would go up the most once a superhero arrives in your city? I thought superheroes were supposed to make the world safer. Hmmm
