Innovations in #healthcare are transforming patient outcomes and are reshaping the economic landscape - also in China. At Fresenius Kabi, we work at the forefront of healthcare innovations in #Biopharma, #MedTech, and #ClinicalNutrition. I was honored to talk about this and more during a panel session of the World Economic Forum on growth drivers in China and the world. I am fully convinced: Driving healthcare is not only about developing innovations but bringing them to life and making them accessible. Healthcare will play an essential role in shaping China’s economic future – as it will worldwide. China is expected to have about 350 million people aged 65 and over by 2040. To be an important factor and cater the future needs for health, we value our strong R&D presence in the country, actively exploring new avenues for innovation. #AMNC24 #WEF #CommittedtoLife #FreseniusKabi #Innovation #Growth

4wSuggesting some high level “How Might We…” thought triggers for healthcare innovation: 1. How might we improve health education using AI based on individual health/lifestyle data combined with LLMs? 2. How might we identify health risks early based on DNA, tests and lifestyle? 3. How might we adjust health and life insurance costs such that wilful negligence of health is more expensive using predictive data about individuals rather than broad actuarial expectancy data? 4. How might we make interventions with side-effects (usually surgical or pharmacological) less common? 5. How might we reduce the end-end cost of healthcare by shifting more costs towards the preventative side? 6. How might we reduce the time required from medical pracititioners using more patient inquiry and patient self-administered diagnostic methods? Too many innovations are focused on finding the right intervention and delivering them innovatively, rather than understanding, anticipating and preventing interventions altogether.
