☀️For three sunny days at St. Georgen Ybbsfelde, Honeywell conducted flight trials for their ground-based Detect and Avoid (DAA) system using their unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) alongside the Frequentis air traffic management system. Here we were able to test existing services and new conflict detection and avoidance services. The trials included integrating ground control stations with unmanned traffic management and handling challenging scenarios such as avoiding intruder drones. Special guest Eugenio Diotalevi from IFATCA joined, and local spectators also gathered to watch the tests! OperA Project Partners include Aena , ENAIRE, EUROCONTROL , Valsts Akciju Sabiedriba Latvijas Gaisa Satiksme, Lilium , Pipistrel Vertical Solutions , ORO NAVIGACIJA , Skyports Drone Services and Vertical Aerospace Group, with funding from the SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking. #OperA #Trial #UTM #UAM #SESAR3JU #Uspace #Honeywell Want to see the trials? LuxMobility is proud to be a part of the groundbreaking #advancedairmobility initiative, SAFIR-Ready SAFIR-Ready is set to revolutionize #uspace , harness the power of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (#uavs ) use cases, and therewith making Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) a reality. With 34 partners such as Helicus, Airbus, Safran, and German Aerospace Center (DLR), Droniq GmbH, EHang (NASDAQ: EH), ifly, Avy, RigiTech with support of SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking the project will carry out multiple studies and demonstrations for drone operations in higer U-Space environments that are viable, robust and ready-to-implement throughout Europe. These demonstrations will include surveillance flights (including container terminal inspection, oil spill inspection) in the Port of Antwerp, parcel delivery, medical inter-hospital transport, high voltage line mapping and pylon inspection. Further the use of telecommunication network technology for data communication with both manned aircraft and other unmanned aircraft will be assessed. Finally, a radar system will be deployed capable of monitoring cooperative and non-cooperative drones. By implementing rapid automated flight authorization and integrated drone ground automation, SAFIR-Ready aims to develop viable business cases, significantly reduce response times, lower transportation costs, and decrease carbon emissions. #SAFIRReady #AerialMobility #EmergencyResponse #UnmannedAviation #Innovation

What came before us? 🤔💭 As the SAFIR-Ready journey moves forward, let’s take a step back and explore the crucial role played by the projects that laid the foundation for this cutting-edge initiative. 🔬 SAFIR project: In 2016, the SAFIR project marked a pivotal moment for the unmanned aviation industry in the EU. It initiated the development of the first-ever EU unmanned aviation legislation, paving the way for safe and regulated UAV operations. This achievement was a significant milestone, setting the base for further advancements in the field of unmanned aviation technology. 🚁🏥 SAFIR-Med project: Building upon the success of SAFIR, the SAFIR-Med project took innovation to new heights. Focused on U-Space concepts and digital interfaces, the SAFIR-Med demonstrations showcased the viability of using UAVs in emergency medical use cases, offering swift and efficient responses in critical situations. These pioneering efforts shaped the Safir-Ready project with the ambition to create a reality where #UAS & #AAM technologies with mission readiness capabilities are set to address key societal challenges! Join us in this effort and become part of a brighter future! 🌟 The SAFIR-Ready project belongs to the SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking program and is funded by the European Commission through #horizoneurope. #ATM #DigitalSky #innovation #SESAR3JU #horizoneurope #MobilityStrategy #Uspace #HorizonEurope #CEFTransport

https://lnkd.in/gy5dhv-4 Remember, regarding drones, "It is the data link, stupid." Well done to uAvionix Corporation and Viasat for teaming up to make a multi-mode data link for drone operations beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS). The link uses a DO-377A complaint link manager to seamlessly switch between Viasat's L-band SATCOM (INMARSAT), C-band SATCOM, or cell phone (LTE and ISM). This allows BVLOS drones to use a cellular link in urban areas and automatically switch to SATCOM when out of cellular range. Now all we need are BVLOS rules . . .#drones #uas

Attending JARUS SORA Quantitative Methods Group Meeting initiate by Pen Aviation and MRANTI. The primary objective of this gathering is to facilitate a comprehensive discussion on the regulations surrounding the integration of drones into airspace, with a specific focus on assessing risk and capabilities. The global progress of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operations has encountered hindrances due to the absence of a robust regulatory framework, notably concerning Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations.
