Cooperative societies are member-owned businesses that operate for the benefit of their members. They can take many forms and offer a wide range of services, depending on their specific focus. Some of the common functions of cooperative societies: 1. Providing goods and services at competitive prices: Cooperatives can bypass middlemen and negotiate bulk purchases, leading to lower prices for members. 2. Offering financial services: Credit unions, a type of cooperative society, provide loans and other financial services to their members at competitive rates. 3. Supporting producers: Producer cooperatives help small producers by providing them with a platform to sell their products, access to resources, and bargaining power. 4. Facilitating community development: Housing cooperatives provide affordable housing, while worker cooperatives can create jobs and promote economic development in a community.

Neighbourhoods with a close-knit environment where children can build lasting friendships and parents can forge connections with other families are priceless. Your goal is to create a sense of belonging that extends beyond the front door. Thinking about Langley? Is it the right community? Let's talk -778.835.8957

April is Fair Housing Month throughout the U.S. Now we have an official 2024 proclamation from Idaho's Governor recognizing April as Fair Housing Month in Idaho. Text Follows: WHEREAS, April 2024 marks the 56th anniversary of the passage of Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, commonly known as the Federal Fair Housing Act; and WHEREAS, the Idaho Human Rights Commission Act has prohibited discrimination in housing since 1969; and WHEREAS, equal opportunity, liberty, and justice for all – regardless of race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status or national origin – are fundamental goals of our nation and our state; and WHEREAS, equal access to housing is an important component of this goal – as fundamental as the right to equal opportunity in education and employment; and WHEREAS, accessible, affordable and available housing is a critical component of family, community, and economic health and stability; and WHEREAS, housing choice determines our children’s access to education, our ability to seek and retain employment, the cultural benefits we enjoy, our exposure to crime and drugs, our access to quality health care and economic opportunity, and the overall productivity of Idaho’s workforce; and WHEREAS, individual economic opportunity contributes to the long‐term economic gains of cities and states; and WHEREAS, the laws of this nation and our state seek to ensure such equality of choice for all transactions involving housing; and WHEREAS, ongoing education, outreach and monitoring are key to raising awareness of fair housing principals, practices, rights and responsibilities; and WHEREAS, only through continued cooperation, commitment and support of all Idahoans can barriers to fair housing be removed; NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRAD LITTLE, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim April 2024, to be FAIR HOUSING MONTH in Idaho.

🌟 Did you know? California is home to 12 of the 25 most expensive cities in the country! 💰 Ever wondered what it's like for youth in foster care living in these cities? Living in pricey areas adds layers of challenge, especially for those in foster care. High costs impact access to stable housing, education, and essential resources. It's a tough reality that deserves attention and support. Let's advocate to maintain two programs in the 2024-25 California State Budget that address this issue: the SILP Housing Supplement and the Housing Navigation & Maintenance program. Every child deserves a fair chance, regardless of their zip code. 🏠 Take action: https://jbay.org/advocate/
