The Devil Is In the Dotted Lines: One of the secrets of the success of the Manhattan Project was that nearly EVERYONE reported to the same person. The same approach was used for the development of the USS Nautilus. Note just how few dotted lines there are in the org chart below. If you want to do anything quickly, the lower the percentage of dotted lines, the better. Call it the “Bureacratic Structure factor.” Does anyone know what the org chart looks like for the construction of the Constellation-class frigate?

🔦Project in the spotlight: 🚢 Over the past years (2021-2023), VLIZ - Flanders Marine Institute contributed substantially to the EU-funded MIRICLE project. The project's objective was to achieve a European & sovereign capacity in future mine warefare and to pave the way to the next generation of mine countermeasure solutions. The work was led by the NAVAL GROUP Belgium and executed by a consortium of 18 partners in 10 EU countries. Happy National Selfie Day! Rupert the Space Armadillo and his handler decided to celebrate with this fun selfie at historic Launch Complex 18 (LC-18) on Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. It was here on 6 December 1957 where the United States attempted to launch its first satellite into orbit - the Naval Research Laboratory's Vanguard Test Vehicle 3 (TV3). It resulted in a spectacular explosion on pad - https://lnkd.in/eMzAQZAj. Efforts then shifted to Wernher von Braun's Army Ballistic Missile Agency (ABMA) team at Launch Complex 26, where they successfully launched Explorer I aboard a Juno I rocket on 31 January 1958. It became America's first satellite placed into orbit! Despite the failure of TV3, Project Vanguard did prove successful. Three Vanguard satellites launched into orbit from LC-18. Vanguard 1 (TV4) was America's second satellite to reach orbit on 17 March 1958. Today it remains the oldest manmade object in space! Pictured in the background of this selfie are the remnants of the LC-18 Blockhouse. It functioned as the launch control center for the dual-pad complex. The European Space Conference ended yesterday. Fernando García Martínez-Peñalver participated in the last session that explored how to bridge together the realms of space and defence, for instance, through the operationalization of Space Domain Awareness capabilities across Europe. In addition, he spoke about the need to dedicate more resources to this area, "we have to find a quicker way to move money into the system.
