Just wrapped up a productive visit to Semicon Taiwan 2023 in search of components and collaborators for our next gen fabrication project. Had some great conversation and fanatic to meet Nadia Court and Anna Gurevich from Semiconductor Sector Service Bureau (S3B), Venkata Gutta from  MILLIBEAM and Mark Luo Quantum Brilliance on the @Australian-NSW Pavilion. Impossible to visit all the booths across the three exhibition halls in the time available, but between Sarada Lee (李文華) GAICD and myself we managed to find some real gems, The industry buzz around photonics is real and pragmatic, with a near term objective of photonic interconnect applications. Our focus remains on practical next steps, keeping an eye on the future. Semicon Taiwan primarily caters to its local market, with fewer component manufacturers, making our task more challenging. And yes, we may have overindulged in xiaolongbao, but we're back home now, ready to sift through the valuable insights we gathered. #SemiconTaiwan #AIHardware #PhotonicsInnovation

Today #ESRA launch in Brusells demonstrated responsibility of more than 23 EU regions from member states for strong execution of ChipsAct objectives. It showed more the role of Silicon Europe members such as Silicon Saxony Czech National Semiconductor Cluster Minalogic and others to help politicians as expert force to drive EU semiconductor innovation. Surprise was region Wales presence as well. Thanks to representatives from South Moravian Region Czech Republic was well represented, speech by Jiri Hlavenka about strong contribution of South Moravian Region. FuzeHub and Upstate Makes are attending the 2024 Semicon West conference in San Francisco to help spread the good word about all the cutting-edge innovation happening all across the Empire State. The name of the game is collaboration, with so many different tech companies, economic development organizations, research and testing operations, and all who participate in making the global electronics supply chain stronger all on display and engaging in robust conversations. SEMICON WEST 2024 took place in San Francisco from July 9 to 11. The event featured presentations from representatives of Indiana, Arizona, and New York on semiconductor industry reshoring and job creation in the United States. While these states have diverse political leanings - Indiana typically Republican, Arizona a swing state, and New York generally Democratic - they all delivered a consistent message regarding reshoring: a commitment to fostering semiconductor manufacturing industries. Key technological issues highlighted at the event included the development of reducing agents for ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition) processes using AI, advancements in quantum computing, and innovations in advanced packaging. These topics underscore the industry's focus on pushing the boundaries of semiconductor technology and manufacturing processes. The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), a state-funded organization that promotes international trade and investment, organized the Korea Pavilion at SEMICON WEST 2024. This pavilion showcased over 10 Korean companies, highlighting the country's significant presence in the global semiconductor industry. Participants included: IMT (KOSDAQ: 451220), Haesung DS (KOSDAQ: 195870), Lake Materials (KOSDAQ: 281740), Hansol IONES (KOSDAQ: 114810), AIBIZ, Livingcare, Hanbaek Precision, Laserssel (KOSDAQ: 412350), RFPT, NTEK Systems, GP & E, and EMI YOUNG JIN IND. During the insightful panel discussion with Lucilla Sioli, Michael Paulweber, Régis Hamelin, Ferdinand Bell, Christoph Kutter, Bert de Jonge discussing the main challenges and future directions of the Chips JU R&I programme, Francis Balestra, ICOS-International Cooperation On Semiconductors project coordinator, outlines that international cooperation is crucial to support the growth of the European Semiconductor industry. 🌐 ICOS project aims at analysing the value chains of semiconductors for electronics and photonics, the strengths and gaps of European and International industries in this area, identifying the emerging and disruptive technologies and highlighting the research subjects likely to benefit the most to the European strategic goals. It will translate them into proposals for future bilateral or multilateral research initiatives, in particular with like-minded countries in other regions of the world, including practical cooperation modalities. Last week, the European Union launched the European Semiconductor Regions Alliance.   At the initiative of the German state of Saxony, 27 regions from twelve EU member states are now participating in the initiative. Its aim is to promote knowledge exchange, foster collaboration and #innovation, develop strong and resilient value chains and reduce dependencies.   The following ten states are participating from Germany alone: Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hamburg, Hesse, Lower Saxony, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Saarland, Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia.   This is another important signal from Europe to strengthen the #semiconductor industry, brought bottom-up from the regions to the European level. More Europe-wide networking, exchange and cooperation are essential if Europe is to achieve its goal of 20% of the world market share in semiconductor production. #EUChipsAct https://lnkd.in/eDy6mXDG
