Director I Architectural and Design Recruitment Consultant - Imparting over 23 years of recruiting knowhow to job seekers on their own journey
This week I've been reviewing hundreds of applications, both CVs and portfolios in combination and I've noticed something I haven't mentioned before that you should be aware of if you're looking for a job right now.... . . . . It's a common theme for CVs and Portfolios to completely mismatch Title - "Interior Designer" on their CV.... portfolio only contains 3D renders and no mood boards, design sketches, furniture selections, FF&E examples, etc Conclusion - You're a 3D visualiser Title - "Design Architect" on their CV... portfolio contains technical drawings and no design sketches, concept thoughts, variations and how that individual came to finalise either design ideas Conclusion - You're a Technical Architect Title - "Project Architect" on their CV... portfolio contains landscape plans, plants, hard and soft landscapes Conclusion - You work in landscape Title - "Interior Designer/Landscape Architect/Civil Engineer on their CV... portfolio... pfff I don't know where to start on this one. Conclusion - If you don't know what you do, I can't help Oh and the best one.... Title - "Interior Designer" throughout their CV.... portfolio "social media designer" If you're not sure what you do or where you're going in your career you can't rely on a hiring manager or recruiter to work it out unless you present the right information to those individuals Get clear about what you do and present your CV and Portfolio accordingly #gethiredme #jobsearch #jobseeker #cvwriting #cvtips #portfolio #portfoliodesign #aerecruitment

Freelance CAD Design, CAD Draughting & Coordinated Design Development 👉 I help designers, creative agencies & contractors bring brand experience, event, exhibition, museum and fit-out projects from concept to reality
Designers, creative directors, project managers and contractors! Coming out of a busy few weeks is a good time for me to reflect on the clients and projects I’m grateful to have worked on recently. During December and January I’ve had the opportunity to work freelance on some exciting projects across the #brandexperience, #eventdesign and #exhibitiondesign spaces, details of which I can’t share just yet due to client confidentiality. More on these a bit later. It's no secret that projects in this sector will often be ever shifting and fast moving from design concept right through to production and install. Eleventh hour revisions or design challenges are not uncommon, and CAD drawings will often be required at very short notice for a tight build or install window. Pre-empting and addressing design or production challenges at the onset will ensure quick but accurate and technically buildable CAD drawings. This is where my 12 years of technical experience and ability to CAD design and detail, on my feet so to speak, become highly valuable. Designers, creative directors, project managers and contractors! Looking ahead to February and March I have a availability opening up for any requirements you might have for CAD draughting or design development whether in brand experiences, events, exhibitions, museum or interior fit-outs. If you a potential project in the pipeline I’d love to hear from you, I’m confident I can help you and add value. #2ddesign #caddesign #caddrafting #exhibitiondesign #londoninteriors #interiordesign #eventdesign #brandexperience #fitoutcontractor #fitoutinteriors #museumdesign #designdetails #designdevelopment

Sometimes there is a misconception that I just put pretty things in place, but in truth I am… An Artist, a Project Manager, a Consultant, a Building Inspector, a Customer Service Representative, a Business Owner, a Fashion Designer, a Psychologist, a Magician, an Architect, and probably a whole host of other professions. “Interior Designer” can be quite a vague title. Anyone who gives their home a makeover might call themselves one. That's the difference. I don't just make pretty spaces; I create experiences. Everything I do has a profound psychological, physiological, and ergonomic reason behind it. Perhaps I'm more of a "Psychological Space Transformer," an "Emotional Environment Designer," or an “Interior Architect.“ Do any of you face similar challenges in your work?
