Tai-chi most people know is an ancient Chinese practice comprising a series of gentle flowing movements proven to promote calmness and reduce anxiety. Some people call it "meditation in motion". In honor of Wellness Wednesday, we celebrate this example from Joy Suchy, director of human resources at Long Haul Trucking. She implemented a short stretching video series to build awareness for injury prevention. Long Haul supports their employees in understanding risks, seeking early treatment, and continuing to be screened for illnesses that could impact their lives. The ongoing wellness education helps with support and employee buy-in. When companies focus on ongoing wellness, the results can be life-changing. #WellnessWednesday

This is an excellent illustration, and the research behind it is even better. (you've got to love a good 2 by 2!) Too often human wellbeing is framed as in conflict with nature. But this is a choice. A better future where both nature and people prosper is achievable. This is a systemic challenge. The human vs nature narrative is ingrained from thousands of years of genuinely facing constant environmental threats. Now we are the environmental threat. Time to change the narrative. This research shows that this is more than getting out into nature. It is about changing how we see nature. For me, that means (re)discovering wildness. Unpicking 'nature' into species, relationships, ecosystems, land, wonder, us etc. 🌱
