Importance of Grief and Mental Health Services in Honoring Lost Lives Dear Community, As we acknowledge the heartbreaking reality of losing young black men in our community, it is crucial to emphasize the significance of accessible grief and mental health services. As we draw Minority Health Month to a close, let us not relegate these critical conversations to the sidelines. Instead, let us elevate them to the forefront of our collective consciousness. In these trying times, it is imperative that we offer unwavering support to all affected families and individuals. Let us hold them close in our thoughts and prayers, offering solace and strength during their times of immense sorrow. By prioritizing mental health and fostering open dialogue, we not only honor those we have lost but also fortify our community against further tragedies. Together, let us stand united in compassion and understanding, ensuring that no one suffers alone. At the end of Construction Safety Week and Mental Health Awareness Month in May, we said we'd return to bring awareness in September for Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month. By starting the conversation, providing support, and directing help to those who need it, we can help prevent suicides and save lives, especially in the construction industry. If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. You are not alone. https://lnkd.in/g3NnpWft #BuildingWhatMatters

Childhood trauma is a silent epidemic that affects millions worldwide. It's time to shine a light on this crucial issue and start the conversation. As someone passionate about mental health advocacy, I believe it's essential to raise awareness about the profound impact of childhood trauma on individuals' lives. From adverse childhood experiences to complex trauma, the effects can be far-reaching, influencing mental, emotional, and even physical well-being. But here's the good news: awareness leads to action, and together, we can make a difference. By fostering open dialogue, offering support, and advocating for trauma-informed care, we can create a safer, more compassionate world for survivors of childhood trauma to heal and thrive. Let's break the silence, spread empathy, and champion resilience. Together, we can be the change-makers in the fight against childhood trauma. #ChildhoodTraumaAwareness #BreakTheSilence #MentalHealthMatters 🌱💙

Data-Driven Non-Profit Leader | Community-Engaged Researcher and Evaluator | Suicidologist, Advocate, and Speaker | PhD from Michigan State
It's Children's Mental Health Awareness Week! Much of my career and research has focused on youth mental health and suicide prevention. Through this work I’ve analyzed data, spoken with dozens of youth, and collaborated with many partners to foster mental health among youth. This week, I'll be sharing some of what I’ve learned from that work, as well as some articles and resources. First, one of the best resources out there is the Blueprint for Youth Suicide Prevention, co-developed by AAP and AFSP in collaboration with experts from NIMH (aap.org/suicideprevention). Check out this article I co-authored last year about how the Blueprint came together! https://lnkd.in/gkW9_hBQ
