Hilti has made significant strides in becoming CO₂ neutral and enhancing its sustainability efforts. As of the end of 2023, Hilti achieved CO₂ neutrality in its own operations. This accomplishment is a key part of their broader strategy to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. Their approach includes reducing emissions through energy efficiency measures, replacing fossil-based energy with sustainable alternatives, and expanding their use of renewable energy sources, such as photovoltaic systems. Hilti's sustainability strategy follows a four-step approach: reduce, replace, produce, and offset. This has led to a 60% reduction in their emissions since 2019, partly by converting a significant portion of their global vehicle fleet to electric and hybrid models and by sourcing 100% of their electricity from renewable sources. In addition to their operational efforts, Hilti is also addressing emissions across their entire value chain. They have committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to align with the goals of the Paris Agreement. This includes tackling Scope 3 emissions, which constitute the majority of their carbon footprint, generated from activities such as material procurement and product development.
