🧠 The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston)'s latest study of a randomized clinical trial in JAMA Neurology shows how AI-powered LVO detection software is transforming #StrokeCare. Faster detection = better outcomes. Key Takeaways: 1. Early identification is critical for stroke patients. 2. AI significantly cut down on door-to-groin (DTG) and CT scan initiation-to-endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) 3. The Viz app combines automated LVO detection with secure communication and results in improved acute ischemic stroke workflows. Amyloid-beta targeting DMT is now a part of the treatment algorithm for Alzheimer's Disease, but with these therapies comes the risk of amyloid-related imaging abnormalities (ARIA). How can we identify and manage ARIA when utilizing DMT in the treatment of Alzheimer's Disease? In this educational program, experts from the fields of neurology, radiology, emergency medicine, and primary care sit down together to provide insight into how their practices are evolving to accommodate ARIA. In their discussion, they outline individual roles and best practices across specialties and share key considerations that may impact a care team’s ability to successfully monitor for, identify, and treat ARIA. They also explore communication strategies for conversing with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals about the risk and presence of ARIA in individuals undergoing DMT for Alzheimer's disease. Hear their insightful discussion now: https://bit.ly/3Qv9naj

August is Children’s Eye Health and Safety Awareness Month. This month`s goal is to educate people on the importance of taking care of children`s eyes. Eye health and good vision play an important role in the child’s physical, mental, and social development. Uncorrected vision problems can impair child development, interfere with learning, and even lead to permanent vision loss. Early detection and treatment of eye problems are critical. An eye disease that is diagnosed and treated in early childhood can slow progression and avoid irreversible damage in adulthood. Common signs of concern are frequent eye friction, creasing of the eyes, tilting or flipping of the head to observe objects. The child may also close their eyes, or you may notice that their eyes are wandering. Children are encouraged to have regular comprehensive eye screenings in order to promptly detect eye conditions that may need further intervention. The focus of clinical trials in ophthalmology has extended to research in gene therapy, immunomodulation, and regenerative medicine. As the interest in clinical research expands, more and more diagnostic and therapeutic options become available to ophthalmic patients. GCT is an expert in conducting clinical trials in Ophthalmology.
